Hi guys,
this is my first post and i'd jus like to share with you guys my current vmax build. I have posted this build up on the customfighters.com forum and it is still an ongoing build.
A brief intro of myself, I come from singapore and started out modding bobbers and choppers. this is my first take at a streetfighter although i did some sorta hybrid fighter with a yamaha V star.
ok as always.. thread is worthless without pics. so i aint gonna make this worthless.. lol
so i started off building a set of pipes for the vmax. a 4-2-1 configuration

Things progressed and went very out of hand when i decided i wanted a 240 rear end lol. so i fabricated a single sided swingarm to take a 18 x 8.5 hamann rim

made some brackets to fit the R6 radiator and also routed the coolant with copper pipes. will get them welded up in time to come.

no.. hahha, i'm a fireman... i didnt machine those parts myself. even the welding i got professional welders to do it. i jus designed them or cut those parts up for a good fitment and got a proper professionals to weld/ machine it for me. which is why i'm nowhere near the level of being able to handle engine mods. lol. Thanks for the compliments!

i wanna hope that it lasts forever..lol.. but i have yet to machine out the connector shaft from one u-joint to the other u-joint. but in any case, any failure means a good opportunity to make it even better.

That is one wild looking Max mate. With all that work up the back I'm guessing you'll be changing the front end yea?
This is a really interesting build so keep us up to date with it mate.
What will you be doing with the gap between the headstock and tank front? Just leave it open?
Again: Nice!

thanks!! i'll be using hayabusa forks for the front. inthe pics above u can see the fork extensions machined out for the busa forks. they are much shorter than the vmax's therefore it was necessary to lengthen it. will be getting thick triple clamps machined as well to beef up the front end.
as for the gap, its actually gonna house the ram air duct for the airbox. vmax's have their stock air channels fron the top. but bcos i wanna maximise the tank capacity, i actually sealed off the top of the air box and will be cutting a section at the front portion of the airbox to fit ram air ducts from a kawa zx10. given the forward placement, it should also increase the pressure of the incoming air as compared to the original layout. thats the interior mechanics.. as for the exterior look, its gonna have some side shrouds from the tank to abuot the radiator distance, thus consealing the ram air ducts. :D

ok guys, some updates.
here is the hump grafted to the original seal cowling. it still needs some work to get it smooth and perfect for paint but at least now u see the shape and lines proper. its centered now generally.. just need to alter some spots to make it perfect.

now with some covers to clear out the background. which i though they kinda made it even harder to see.. hahaha

so sorry about the lack of updates... the sgaft driven swingarm didnt work out... so i converted the vmax into a chain drive instead.. will be showing more pics of the conversion + adapters.. but this is what i have in the pics for the new swingarm... going to add a brace to the swingarm... and its already so fuckin heavy!!! :( with the axles in... the last time i weighed in.. it was a frickin 30 kg!!!... shiat... but.. at least.. this thing seems like it could survive an atomic bomb... lol.. oh well... if i were modifying for performance.. a single sided swingarm wouldnt have been considered... so nuff talk.. here are some pics.. brace not welded yet.. this is jus a good 80% of wat the final product looks like.. still gotta remove material wherever possible.

i figured a way to make the chain conversion without machining the engine cases. since i will be using a wider tire/ wheel.. i basically replaced the pinion /ring gear componenets inside the engine with a sprocket adapter.

and i split the engine cases to get to the inards.. here is a mock up of the machined adaper inplace.

will be making a cover plate and a front sprocket cover to finish off the engine portion.

glad with the chain conversion mate the parts look tops 30 kgs no go though

yeah i agree... i also didnt know how it came up to 30 kg.... my swingarm weighsin at about 18kg... so the axle, carriers sprockets, brakes came up to a good 12 kg??!! i know i;m only able to cut off that much weight on the swingarm.. maybe i will take a look into puttin g the axles and its parts on a diet too... definately i must have made some parts redundantly stronger or thicker than wats necessary.... oh well.. guess this is a good excuse to bolt up a supercharger or a turbo... lol
yup the axle wall is to thick, 5mm? 2.5-3mm is 'nuff + cut of the lard from the wheel flange... 'sit heat treated yet?
