i posted this on another topic about 7/14,s and thought it was about time i started my own topic ,so lets start............

i had a slingshot frame hanging around in my garage for sometime it was going to be the wife,s new bike but as things go along shes now going to have mine (gosh i must love her ) right soppy bit over now what im not telling her is im havein the forks and yokes off it hehe
well im not levein a set of 2 inch billet yokes and forks on that i want them for mine

im going off topic (slap)
back to the story
after seeing some other bloke do a 7/14 i thorught hummmm lets see how hard it would be .
got the engine off a very good mate at a very very good price
offerd it up to the frame (bang first problem )it wont fit lol
so out came mr grinder and choped of the front & lower frame rails
hay presto it fits
the rear engine mounts line up ,not haveing any lower mounts ,as im not haveing a lower frame rail :D
just try and think ............slingshot frame / spondon hybrid
ill post a few pics for you to ponder over

So do you lose any rigidity by cutting the frame like that or are the lower rails solely to hold the moteur in place? I mean I love the concept, but I'm curious about what other mods need to be done to stop it from twisting or flexing under load?

moog (i think) did a similar cut n shut on a slingshot with a efe motor. had to use the lower cradle from the efe frame tho then join it to the slingshot frame.

today i put a set of forks and yokes on just to see what the stance was like (well im happy with it )
as the frames got luggs welded on for the subframe im going to make two differant subframes one for solo and one for when i have two take the wife out
as for the questions on what im doing about the frame rails
well lets say ,ive found a realy good fabricator who is going to make a set of new front & side rails (like on a spondon frame )
here,s were im up to now

god this is not takein long http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1253287633.jpg

u r a brave man mate! luv the approach! the rigity of the whole construction depends on how rigid engine mounts r, probley u'll have to make tougher ones, time will show, good luck!
