View Full Version : swingarm pivot bearings
I'm swapping out a '91 gsxr 750 arm into my GPZ750 turbo frame. all fits up with a minimum of stress except..... how the fuck do you get the pivot bearings out without destroying them:(......or is it break and replace only?I've tried to heat the alloy , but it appears they are glued, or at least stuck big time. Need to take one out to swap over the inner spacers, then I can use the original GPZ pivot bolt.
I've already ordered a set from Alpha, but I'm wondering does anyone have this experience under their belt?

Benz, I'm afraid that it is break and replace, I've tryed every imanginable way of getting them out and the only way that i've managed to do it is by the break and replace method.
why do you want them out, do you have to machine the swing arm to get it to fit?

Would you not replace the bearings anyway???? Small cost... peace of mind!
There's no machining involved, luckily.I have to remove the gsxr arm's inner sleeve, in order to use the one from inside the GPZ arm, [it's a thicker walled sleeve, same outer diameter]. but one pivot bearing has to come out to remove it. This way I can bolt up to the frame with the original GPZ bolt, which is smaller in diameter than the one on the gixxer arm.
Both bikes share virtually the same pivot bearings,
Yes, it's better to replace them, and I will anyway, just trying to get it together, stand back and check the "look" :)
