Guys Ive always had a cylinder which didnt quite run right at idle, couldnt get it to fire really and sluggish on the go. GSXR 1100 with 36mm carbies btw. So Ive taken the carb apart to give it a clean out and try to unblock the passages. Now when Ive taken out the idle mixture screw I've noticed it doesnt have the two spacers and spring that the other three carbs have.
First of all, am I right in thinking this would cause a problem, because the way I see it is the if it screws in a lot more than it would normally (due to the lack of washers in there), then two and a half turns out would be next to nothing compared to the other cylinders.
Secondly I can't find part numbers for these 3 items. Im looking on alphasports and theres no mention of either the screw or the spring etc etc, does anyone know the part numbers?

Cheers.

Seifer,

That will do it. It should have an o-ring, washer and spring in that order.

P/N for an 1100 K/L are:

Part No Description
13268-47070 Spring
13291-29900 Washer
13295-29900 O-Ring

Hope this helps.

Search for GSXR-1100 GV73A 1989-1990 or GSX-R1100 GU74 1986-1988. Should bring up a site that you can get part diagrams off of - www.scoot.bg something or other. Try http://www.scoot.bg/content/view/25/55/ and download whatever parts list you want.

OMG I am the biggest fucking tool. I worked out why the cylinder isnt running. A while ago I requested a carb body to replace an old one whose pilot jet thread I had fucked earlier. Anyway.... Choppa came to the rescue but sent the wrong one, or I described the wrong one, didnt matter to me at the time, I filed down a small tab which made it fit and off I went. Only the carb body was for the right hand side not the left... meaning that the inlet for the fuel was on the opposite side. Needless to say the carb was not getting one fucking ounce of fuel, hence the non running issue. Biggest idiot of the year award goes to me, baby, me!
Anyone got a carb body for the number two cylinder (2nd from the left when sitting on the bike....
Cheers.

Better yet, can anyone see an issue with me just drilling a hole on the other sides inlet and plugging the original inlet with JB Weld.... If you're familar with these carbs you'll know they are symmetrical.

Seifer, do it and try it. JB Weld is fuel resistant so should be ok. Just run a slow speed drill into the area you want to plug to rough it up and give the JB something to bite into.
