Feelin a bit like I jst got bent over n fucked in the arse with large iron rod! Picked my bike up from the shop today coz I had the forks stripped, n all bearings in the frame wheels etc.popped out. Had everything powder coated elsewhere. Then had him put the bearings back in, swingarm back on n new fork oil n seals. All for the grand total of $500 shekels!
Is it jst me or did I just completely ripped off???:(

Should about right. What hourly rate do you work for or does your boss pay in net terms for your labour?

Sounds like about 7 or 8hrs labour at somewhere between $66 - $77/hr labour charge.

seems like a reasonable price including forkseals and oil.

about 3hrs work in that i think

that is assuming you took it to him with wheels out etc otherwise if he had to take the wheels out forks out triples out etc add antoher hour or so

i recon you got arse fucked myself

did he remove the swingarm bearings and lower triple bearing cause i dont think you cant get them out without fucking them.

Nah, not too unreasonable. If ya wanna learn how to D.I.Y., bowl in to your local bike wreckers and buy the cheapest set of fucked telescopic forks you can. Take `em home and pull `em apart. Most telescopics work in much the same way, and if you fuck up your test forks, it wont kill you. Cheers

the only way to learn is by doing. i bought an old (94) FZR 600 and a haynes manual as my intro.

What if someone has mistakenly filled the forks with mercury and you accidentaly swallow it will it kill you then?
