My Old Man bought our 96 Bandit 1200 back in 1999 as a repairable write off and the fighter bug began, back then i was still at school putting around on my Bandit 400 attempting to be a young reckless hooligan..

Thats pretty much the way it stayed for a few years until i bought it off the Old Man in 2004ish and gave it a going over.. the usual paint job, polish, bolts, bars, etc etc then the gear box gave up at 30000kms and she sat in the shed till mid 06, i finally got her fixed and got about to riding her.. UNTIL..

Meanwhile during the time she sat in the shed for 18 months i decided to buy myself a 05 XR250R Brand spankers, just to get to and from work and then the Motard Bug came and bit me on the ass... she only has a small capacity but she thinks her heart is whole lot bigger..

Also whilst the bandit was off the road in pieces i invested in one of my favourite bikes an 00 GSXR750 stock as a rock and added a little bling here and there, After 12 months and 15000 back aching kms i decided it was better off in the hands of one of my mates.. people over 6"4 shouldnt ride sports bikes.. thats a fact..

ANYWAYS.. After the motard and the Gixer i decided to get stuck back into the Bandito..
And so.... it was new paint job with chrome bandit logo, new seat unit plastics.. removed grab rails, fitted yoshi off Gixer.. and a few little other tacky bits..

Apparently this wasn't really needed, i hope.. im thinking maybe because at one stage of its life my B12 was an S model so im thinking excess wiring.. maybe...

And for the current hump in the road.. i decided to invest in a "Factory Fighter" if you will.. an 09 Triumph Street Triple R..
i know i know i should have spent 15k on the bandit.. but the missus said.. "I want a house and a baby, if you want a new bike, buy one now or wait 20 years" so i said no wuckin furries sweetie... and ka ching.. enter the Triple...

Pressed the B12 Stem out and pressed it into Gixer bottom yoke, put new bearings in and fresh grease and voila.. should be about a week for the spacers to be machined and for the forks to show up... fingers crossed... I removed the steering dampner mount and deseamed the bottom yoke both the top and the bottom yokes will be black i will get to the when i finish mocking up front end..

this is what i followed to fit front end using bandit wheel and rotors.. i got this of oldskoolsuzuki.com off a guy name Froudster and it has worked a treat, only difference with mine is i used 05 GSXR 750 top yoke and he had one made... which meant i had to have a bush machined up as bandit stem is 22mm and yoke is for 25mm stem.. and the * point about machining off only applys if you use a 600 or a teapot wheel..

http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr292/Gitzy84/img105.jpg

This is list of spacers i had machined up to use bandit wheel and 05 750 spindle

4 off 10mm i/d x 24mm o/d x 5mm
1 off 25mm i/d x 29mm o/d x 73mm
1 off 25mm i/d x 32mm o/d x 12mm
1 off 25mm i/d x 32mm o/d x 16mm
1 off 22mm i/d x 25mm o/d x 20mm
and another two that match rotor centres 2mm thick each side to space out rotor centres...
because the standard bandit rotor centres on the bandit are 128mm and the gixer radial calipers require 132mm centres so hence the spacers..

So in conclusion all you need is your original stem pressed out and pressed into gixer bottom yoke and original front wheel the rest... buy it...

just for reference the front ends for the 04 GSXR 600 & 750 and the 05 GSXR 600 & 750
ARE ALL IDENTICAL I REPEAT ARE ALL IDENTICAL..
YOKES FORKS CALIPERS AXLE ARE ALL THE SAME..
so that means if you buy everything separate like i did off ebay you have the choice of 4 bikes...
excellent..
my particular conversion has 5 donor bikes and they varied between 04 and 05 600's and 750's
1. forks
2. calipers
3. axle
4. top yoke
5. bottom yoke..

Gitzy

For those who asked or who are wondering the forks are 45mm shorter than the B12 originals...

Yep the frame is black with blue flake but the rest is just plain old high gloss black...
Don't get me wrong love the black but thinking maybe something different... plus the paint is only about 400kms old, so kind of a shame to get rid of it so early...

Sweet as ride mate , really good thread to by the way , for mine keep the headlight , get some use out of the black panels..........either short'n up the K5 tail (As I started reading your thread thats what I was going to suggest ) pull it in closer to the tank and make a shorter seat or what about an 06 R6 , that would be trick. Are you going to put a front guard on it I think it needs one. Oh and BTW what photo shop programme do you use ? I have just got the Adobe photo shop 7 but cant seem to create images like I want as you have done with your bandit , with the blue frame and wheels. What about a chrome frame? ;)

Mate if you are going for one of these go for
the one with the seat cut out on it cos you
can move it forward and have a proper seat on it.
with this one i found you'd want to have a rubber
arse.

What about a chrome frame? ;)

Now thats a freakin reply, cheers Huey.. i was thinking 06 R6 they look very tidy and clean.. A front 04 750 fender is on its way right now left LAX yesterday, love USPS tracking.. the photoshop i use is Adobe Photoshop CS2 V9 its great when you get the hang of it and i use a tablet pen mouse thingy its great too.. framewise i'm more of a powder and paint guy then a chrome and polish.. Cheers

heres a 98 Bandit 12 from Issue 184 June Streetfighters Mag

Definately go with something that has some straight sharp lines to it the R6 definately fits in rather than the buell , the other thing to mate most of the bikes that you have featured as what you like are guys on here ! just food for thought don't know if you have seen this before mate but I think that this tail would suit nicely http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1247923917.jpg

Hey thats the FZR Ben Built.. I love that thing, i love all the fighter seat units like HESA PFERRER and MEGATEC etc but there so damn pricey i cant justify paying $400-$1200 for a seat unit when i can chop up a wrecked gixer tail.. Its all about the dough i'm afraid.. If i won Lotto tomorrow i'd stroll into Extreme Creations with about 70 Grand and go mental with Ben.. but not to be....

I'm no racer and the Bandit doesn't see track time so i'll be using these under normal road conditions.. so fingers crossed...

was just admire'in the tripple clamps on the bandit ya put up mate...cutting the sub off is no big deal mate, you could cut a peice and fill the hole's easy'ly.mine hasent been done cause i want to do the sub frame mounts at the same time..go back a few pages on my thread if you want to see wat you'll end up with after cutting the sub off mate..took me 3 min's and then a quick clean up with a 4 inch grinder, easy dude.

My Brother just bought it... lucky bastard... i wanted it but too many toys.. oh well least its still in the family....
2007 VTR1000F Firestorm
30000kms
Full Log Book service history
I've worked with the guy who owned it for years, hes a bit of a mess though... lotsa metal in that man....
lets say only fighter worthy damage, everything thats broken Bro wont need anyway so all good..
and i think $1800 for a straight frame, top engine, straight wheels, swingarm, new chain and sprockets (i know because i put them on 100kms ago its just dirty from sitting in tow yard)
is a damn bargain...

frame mod's and busa bit's ect, befor i went for the monster rear end mate i wanted to put a buell lightening rear on it (polished sub frame ect) but it was going to be to short due to the lenght of the busa swingarm.....bummer mate! would suit the standered length arm on the bandit and look shit hot[:p]
