Hey guys.
Looking at replacing my tail-light globes to LED ones in my '00 ZX6R... Any idea what ones I would be looking at? And possibly a decent place to buy them?

M.C.S. do them in adr approved form with leds around the outside as well as on the end. about $50ish a pair. Any bike shop should be able to order them for you.

Not sure even what globes would replace them, guess i gotta take them in (was hoping to order off ebay, etc).

Weird thing that happened, as i took each of them out, the main element broke in each (the one thats always on), but the other was fine... seems a bit odd. maybe it earthed? i dunno.

I didnt even stop to think, but getting the globes is gonna be more difficult than i thought, forgot that they will have to be dual globes (Constant and Brake).

Someone on here must have replaced theirs before?

Do they look like normal car type stop/tail globes ie. push turn metal basetwin element? If so the M.C.S. ones will go straight in.

Check out Jaycar. Here are the part numbers.

Stop/Tail
ZD-0311, Red LEDs x 19 $24.95
ZD-0316, White LEDs x 19 $17.95

Blinkers
ZD-0317, Yellow LEDs x 19 $17.95
ZD-0319, White LEDs x 19 $24.95

If that's no good for you, try your local Supercrap or Autowank.

To the LED/bulbs throw the timing of the flasher/resister out ?
or do they have something built in to compensate ?

I've seen LED's "bulbs" that fit the standard holder,
but never thought about using them for indicators.

You would think that they would have a resistor in them...

I called Jaycar last week, and they said they don't do replacements at all. Lying bastard he was.

Found some anyway, costing me $60 shipped to my door, so not too bad I suppose..

They just a standard 15mm Bayonet globe i realized, so with a bit of hunting around, I found the ones i was looking for. Was a hard one to work out, as they needed to be a replacement for a dual filament.

Tony,
The resistance is the same as an old-style globe. Therefore, no problems.

Have fun,
Mick
