Most bikes have the cone pressed into the frame, and the bearings pressed onto the steering shaft. To get the bearings off the shaft you can either; bash em off with a hammer and chisel, or press the shaft out of the bottom tripple - releasing the bearings as you go. The cones are best removed outta the frame with a drift and hammer. Easy!

If there's one thing I'm good at it's bashing things with a hammer. Will have a go at it tomorow. Cheers.

Another trick from the hotrod boys is to weld a seam around the inside of the bearing (i.e after you've pulled the inner race out) not to the frame inside the bearing it makes the metal shrink and if done well the bearing race will fall out easily, cause some bottom yokes are a bitch to get a drift onto.

Have Fun

I find the easiest way is to pry the bearing cage off and attack whats left with an angle grinder and grind a groove across the bearing bit at an angle if poss as far as you can (forget what that bit is called)place a nice sharp cold chisel in the groove and give it a swift clout or two with a hammer and the bearing bit will brake off in two parts.

I have done it that way for years with no probs works for me
