As mentioned else where, a run to 1770.
A night or two in a Motel near the beach,
food and drink at a pub (that's within walking distance)

Its about 500k's from Brissy.
Either a lazy cruise up the highway or twistys going up Samford Valley,
over Mt Mee, Malaney, Kennilworth, Gympie, Bunderburg, to Agnes Waters.
If your not used to doing the K's just set off early and do 5 little
100k rides, you'll piss it easy.
Last two have been to the Mango Tree Motel, under cover bike parking
outside your door.

Nothing's set in stone.
1st year was a group ride up, last year we met there.
One was an overnighter, last one we bunked off work and made it a
long weekend.

I know a few are interested, Tony and Karl from up North might be
there with a few mates again.
If its quiet on here, i'll post it up on other forum's.

Last 2 have been on or around the begining of November.
Weather is normaly warmer and not too close to Xmas.

As I said in the other thread, I'm a maybe at this stage if it happens to be in the last two weeks of November.

Also, if they are still there, I know the managers of the new motel just back from the beach (Agnes Water Beach Club). It has underground lock up parking, might be able to arrange for bikes to hide there out of harms way if anybody is interested. Rooms could be worth considering there also (modern self contained 2 bdrm apartments with individual bathrooms) but pricing escapes me at present and they don't do meals. Would be more $ than Mango Tree.

Tony Nitrous
21-06-2009, 07:42 PM
Yeah, im open to staying somewhere else.
Its been mentioned before.

The Mango Tree isn't that flash and great,
but everyone gets to stay together,
park the bikes under the window, and stand around
drink and talk shit next to the bikes and its affordable.

Wait and see what others want to do I guess. I'm all for cheaper options and its only for a night or two so it's not a big deal.

The Beach Club has a bbq area around the pool for talking shit etc but can't really stand around the bikes while doing so.

I'm keen, i didn't know there was any rides up this way. We're 3 hours north of brissy, so it wouldn't be a huge ride for us, could possibly organise about 6 bikes possibly more.

Tony, how far do you usually deviate from the highway, there's a wicked little twisty dead end road to Paradise Dam between Biggenden and Gin Gin, you've probably heard the Hayabusa guys talk about it, they came up not long before AFR. It would be a bit more fun on the way, probably the best this side of Kenilworth.

that paradise dam road is a wicked little stretch

I will possibly be in for a ride down from Rocky. Just did the ride this weekend and the 1770 -> south bit is the good section of road. From here -> 1770 is pretty crap...

So Tony, is this going to be just an over nighter on the Saturday night, back home on Sunday ? or will it be a long weekend? We are looking to make accommodation booking so just wanted to know how many nights to book for.

Tony Nitrous
23-07-2009, 02:44 PM
Take your pick !

Last year almost everyone went up Saturday, back Sunday.
My Mrs hadn't been riding long so we made a long weekend of it,
up Friday, went to the beach/lookout etc on Saturday, and met up
with the rest on Saturday afternoon and headed up to the pub for
a meal and beer's.

Macksville, Dubbo, Casino, 1770 if we can get the Friday off I
like to turn them into long weekends. No reason it has to be though.
Whatever suits you.
Might depend if anyone wants to do a group ride up again ?

Bob
24-07-2009, 05:39 AM
So this the confirmed date? I will take the friday off if so. doing the ride in 2 days nearly killed me last year.

Couldn't book anything untill now, Got a free trip to the races in
Sydney and needed to find out the dates first, turn's out its not for
a couple of weeks. Mango Tree and several other places are booked out
for the Saturday night (just realised its "Schoolies"...DHOOOO!!!!)

Bugger.

Had to book something a bit flash instead....;)

See ya there Boy's.

Tony and Sasha.

Mr Hyosung
17-11-2009, 07:56 PM
Look out schoolies, here come the toolies. Supercharger, myself and a couple of mates are staying at Bribie island Friday night. Super tells me you all met at the Ettamogga pub last time. Si and a few others are leaving Nerang Maccas at 6 Sat morn so 8 at the pub would work out well. Does anyone know which way we are going? If you are not going past the pub let us know so we can meet you somewhere. Hate to put the pressure on you Tony, but what are your travel plans?

Tony Nitrous
17-11-2009, 08:19 PM
Last year we went Highway all the way. Boring as F#ck but was Sasha's 1st 500k+ ride,
ended up arriving about 2pm. Came back as far as Bundy before we hit the highway,
then got off again at Gympie and went Kennilworth/Malaney/Woodford/Mt Mee/Samford/City
and was only a few K's further but much more fun.

No set plan's. Depends on the weather. We are normaly up at 5am for work so might set off
real early, miss the traffic, and have a lazy ride up, stop for breaky and lunch etc.
Can't get the Beach house key's untill 2pm.

Its only about 550k's from Bayside, so not a drama for us.

Tony Nitrous
17-11-2009, 08:26 PM
Should have added, we are going up Friday, back Sunday.

Alway's try and make 1770 / AFR etc into a long weekend.

From the Ettamogah pub you can cut inland (as Si did on the 1st run)
Up to Malaney, Kennilworth, Gympie. It has a few good sections.

If you coming from Brissy, then Samford Valley, Woodford, Malaney, Kennilworth,
Gympie isn't much further than sitting on the boring M1/Gateway.

Home before lunch is a pretty good effort Tony. It was a 1600k round trip for us with a 10 1/2 hour ride home on Sunday. Bloody sore arse by the time we got back. Next time I'm going to ride with some blokes who have some points, I saw the back of about three bikes all weekend, and that was only for a short time. My arse still hurts.

Got in at 5pm fell asleep and woke up at 5am. Knackered? I think so.

Terry, we should have some points again next year, we're all hanging out until at least April to get our points back so we can waste them again. Thanks for leading all the way mate, I just don't have the will power like you do.

Got fuck all photos as we were too busy trying to sort out stranded bikes, burst clutch cables, shirtless bar bans or being pissed. I do have a few here though, although they appear to be bike free. Hopefully Davo will pop up with the photos he took at the Ettamogah?:

The clutch line of power, created while trying to get fuel to Huddo or ran out 5ks before the servo:

The funniest part about that last photo is that Mark actually made it into the top bunk somehow, leaving Killers and Huddo in the double bed. During the night I was woken by Killers screaming out like he'd been attacked, then I heard Mark saying sorry. Turns out the top bunk is a long way down for a piss and he fell off the steps and landed on Killers. The sound was unreal. Huddo slept through it all dreaming about blokes as always.

Sorry to the Gladstone boys for leaving so early (6am) on Sunday but as you heard, without Terry we'd have screwed up, and Terry was leaving!

I can honestly say 35 degree heat for 10.5 hours at 110 - 120, in full gear leaves you a bit drained....

Good to see Davo again. Now stop being a pussy and get another bike mate!

I don't mind Harvey Bay sometime, but i'll still do a 1770 run in Nov.

1770 isnt that far. Just need to be organised...;)
We did a few de-tours around Malaney, Marycairns Park, Mt Mee etc
and had a play on the twistys on the way back.
623k's home for us is similar K's to Nerang on the highweay.

Was good to see the 4 girls made the run, couple of guys from Brissy
I told wimped out due to distance, they showed them.

Maybe looking at a longer inland route next time........;)
