I'm getting ready to venture farther afield over the coming weeks and many years ago Mt. Glorious was my fave but after reading some of the other posts on the forum I'm wondering if it's now just a munted place to ride with the attention it's getting from the cops? Anyone?

Cheers,
Owen

Not too bad on a weekday. Weekends its full of weekend warriors and cops.

Where are you? A little further north there are some great roads around Kenilworth/Maleny/Peachester etc.

Mate, I havn't been up Glorius since I moved away from Brisbane in the early 90's and the coppers were bad up there then!

If you continue on through Mt. Glorius you end up in the Brisbane Valley. I rode these roads a month or so back and it is great riding all the way from Esk in the south, right up to Gympie in the north and it doesn't seem to have the hysterical cop factor that is now ledgendary at Glorius.

If you are looking for a ride this weekend, head south and I will meet you out Boonah or Rathdowny way and I can show you some great roads in Northern NSW. (stay away from the Border Ranges Rd. though)

I just got the big Hoonda back from the sparkie and i'm toey as hell (although the weather's gone to shit again down this way)

I haven't ridden it in a while but last time I went up was 6:00 in the morning. Thats before the donut shops are open and mostly only serious riders are up at that time. Give it a shot.

Mind you, last time I went up at 6:00am in winter I was frozen into the race position and needed someone to pour warm water over my balls to unstick them from the tank.

If your heading from the Gold Coast too the Bayside or vis-versa try west mount cotton road, the only good road around this way.

@ _M_ - Yep, Mt. Cotton is 2 minutes down the road and my little play pen of late.

@ Tony - Nice wood fire on the bridge ;) Defo good for some crusin - how about Saturday 11th of July? Your "last weekend" route sounds the best except maybe do it backwards from Logan Village or through Beenleigh up to Tambourine?

I'll see what's planned.
There are run's up to Hampton near Toowoomba
(the Esk / Hampton road is good to play on)
and we are doing a run up to 1770 to see how
much of it we can do without using any highway.
Should be a Queen Mary Fall's run soon too if
you prefer to go South.

(where on the South Side are you?)

I'm in Cornubia/Shailer Park (start of Redland Bay road). 1770 is a bit ambitious for me mate ;)

I'm in Toowoomba so if any of you are ever heading for Somerset or Hampton/Esk area give me a shout. I'm working full time and studying so don't have a helluva lot of spare time, will do my best though.

Also lived in Gladstone for a few years until last year so could be tempted into a 1770 run depending on when it is.

Samford Valley, Mt Mee, Woodford, Malaney, Kenilworth,
Gympie, Quick squirt up the highway, off and up the coast
side. (but im checking out other routes)
About 500k's each way. My Mrs did it as a newbie on an old 650.
Normaly Nov but might do a "trial run"

No, your right not to take on too much too fast.
We started Sasha doing 200 and 300K rides.
Most day rides are now over 400k's.
A few weeks back she did 600+ with no drama's.
500k's over a day is easy then a nice motel and pub
before a similar ride back the next day.

Several of the Brissy guys did the 940k ride to Dubbo
in one hit on naked bikes. Wasn't too bad.
I keep meaning to do a 1000k day ride but Sasha's not keen.
Some of the guy's on here put me to shame though.

I do a few run's up Samford Valley to Esk and up the range to Hampton.
Lunch at the Farmers Arms pub towards Highfields.
The size of the dinner and amount of drinks decides if its a blast
back down the twistys to Esk or a lazy cruise home on the Warrego.

Hmmm, late Nov would be ok as exams are over by then. Do you put up an eoi here a few weeks prior or just word of mouth?

I'll post it up soon.
Loads of folk will be keen.
Some will drop out, most will be a no-show.
Those that go will have a great time.
Already had a few from up North who have done
the last two say they are up for it.

The boring as bat-shit ride from Brissy all the way up
the highway ride is only about 10k's shorter than going
up though Mt Mee / Malaney and up though Bundy.

Sounds good. I basically lived at Agnes for over 18 months during the week building a new substation + power line so I know the area pretty damn well.
