Fitting light in glass race tail

Bought this tail light off ebay (thanx for the tip Darren), just gotta make it fit now.

Any advice on cutting fibre glass would be real handy right now.

It will fit just nicely with a small amount of 'trimming'.

Hey Ice, do you have a 4 inch angle grinder, fit a cutting blade to cut remove the bulk, finish off with a rotary burr or just coarse sand paper - 60 or 80 grit wrapped around something hard, no, not that!!

What about a coping saw, like used in wood working

I've got a 5inch grinder and a coping saw. My dad's got a Dremil tool and I saw some blades for them at work last week. So it looks like I'm good for the tools. All's I need now is the time and skill. lol.

i have a little "buzzsaw" looking blade for my dremel that is perfect for the cutting up 'glass stuff

cost about $20 from bunnings, then just tidy it up with the rotory sanding drum attachment and all shall be good

Got taillight in today, used dremel with 'buzzsaw' blade, abit of file'n and sanding. Need to get some fibre glass underneath the light and a bit of an undertray happen'n now. Will post a pic tomorrow.

Dremel multi pro is just the best little tool in my shed.Makes detail work a breeze.

The one I used is actually my dad's, but I think it spends more time at my place than his. Probably should buy my own one day.

I got the tail light in the other day.

Buzzsaw bit for the Dremel worked a treat. Just gotta get abit of fibre glass work done and it'll be better than a bought one.

Have a grinder and am not afraid to use it Davo. Was check'n out what Jo's done to hers earlier, might do something similar. Will get some more mounting points fibre glassed to the inside of the tail.

Dunno yet, still got the mini cateyes I had on it with the old tail, but I do like the look of these.

Davo, take into account I have a RF900R as well, I think it has the widest tail ever made. So if you meant phat as in big, it's still smaller than the other bike and only about 2cm wider than the tank.

Tail looks great. You need a phatter tyre though.

Need a wider swing arm, 140 is the biggest that'll fit in this one.

Stus got a blade one on ebay i think for $50
and i could sort you out with a blade rear wheel for a small
financel out lay.

I've found a few option available to me, an 88-89 GSXR 750 rear wheel will fit in with a 150 tyre, as will a Bandit 400 rear wheel also 150 maybe 160, 90 GSXR 750 swing arm with 96-99 shock.

RGV 250 VJ22 banana arm will bolt straight on no mods needed.

Can't rush these things, already try'n to get the turbo sorted, build'n subframe, fitting tail, modify'n new foot pegs(thanks Stu)and preparing for baby which is com'n within the next two weeks. I surpose I should stop wasting the six hours I use to sleep and get out into the shed. lol
