Hey Pavel. Welcome aboard mate. Good of you to join us. You're Gold Coast as well. Might see you around then. Looks like it's running Zephyr wheels and front guard. The trick with these old girls was to loose the monster seat by chopping it down a bit (I can give you a local guy who can do that) and then pulling the tail end in toward the tank. You already have the pods and a noisy pipe by the looks of things so that's pretty much sorted. Just loose the red and get some dark colour happening to make the whole appearance smaller and your done. Nice. - Oh, you might wanna get a chain as well.

As far as colours go, mate, dark colours will make it look small, light colours will make it look bigger. But in the end colour choice is a personal thing. And like gix says, cut the back end down and lift it.

Welcome aboard pavel, I did see that on ebay the other day and thought it would be a good buy for someone who's looking for a budget fighter.

Hope you have fun with it and post heaps of pics as you do your mods.

i think black might just be a winner :D
how much would it cost to get the rear end cut down like that?

FIGHTERMC
25-05-2006, 02:21 AM
not very much if you do it yourself mate
see what way you want it and then cut it.
i like it the way it is now mate it looks like a cafe
race the way gix has it,just my opinion

Welcome to the world of Streetfighters mate. A hacksaw and some ideas are all it will usually cost. Remember the law doesn't always like our mods so beware before you hack - you either come to the darkside with us or stay law safe. Choice is yours. If you chopped it down less, so more wheel was covered you might attract less attention. The seat mod? Brett (Unit 7/8 Pinter drv, Southport) would charge around $100 I reckon as long as you mention ASF. Take the seat off and see what is under it. If it's just the subframe rails, check how the light unit etc is mounted and be prepared to chop the rails down and reattach the lights etc. Steel frame will be easy to weld brackets back on to. A few lads here could help you out with that. Remember, before any chopping just pull it apart and stand back with the panbels placed where you think you'll want them. That one above I did was after a few beers last night and I might have chopped a bit too much? The seat though is the main thing! Get it slimmed down.

If you don't want to go too nuts with the original frame, I saw this old z1 tail added to your model once. Different and may even fit straight on? Looks a tad disjointed here, but I'm sure it could be done better:

how does the law feel about having the back wheel sticking out at the back
looks the good eh!!!

(i guess the 45degree mudgaurd thing would shoot it down...)

Actually, he's in QLD so it shouldn't be too bad at all. Mine's just shorter than the back wheel anyway.

cheers all, appreciate all the feedback im getting, when i get it, ill have to go from there, im thinking of fitting some different wheels too, not too sure whats gonna fit yet, gonna have to wait and see the width of that swingarm.......i can see big things...but its definitly not going to be my bank account once im done :D

Heya Pavel. Welcome to the frustrating world of Decisions, Decisions! I also have a Zephyr. Your back end is a Zephyr, same as mine. I changed the rear wheel to a '91 model ZXR750,5.5 inch and it fits no problem at all. Probably even go a little bigger(phatter) Next to no modification needed to the swinger to fit the ZXR axle, just a little fidling with the eccentrics, but that's all.

Great bike pavel, love it. There's only one colour that should be considered for that breed of bike [:p][:p][:p] Green is timeless.

wellllll i just picked up the bike today, took a friends work truck, an f250, expecting it to be more than enough, but after seeing the amount of spares he gave me, we filled the truck full up :D. got spare tanks, 3 front ends, 2 fzr and one stock gpz, rims, frame, top end, injection gear, basically anything you can think of, even a rgv250 race ducktail lol. i cannot WAIT to get stuck into this thing. its even nicer close up, the guy really put a lot of work into the whole bike.

cheers all.:D:D:D
