I'm not complaining about it or giving up as the response about this year's event was far and beyond last year's and the result was spot on. We know where the problems stemmed from and we know how to make this work next year without losing, the only thing we don't have is my forgiving mortgage as that's the last I can draw on it, so without that I cannot commit to next year. So whatever you donate will go towards the rebuilding of the event. With your help and then attracting sponsors we hope we can make AFR10 happen.

my measly 1 ticket (so far) was bought more for the pricless information and help from this site , AFR would be a massive deal for me to get there but it would be nice to still have the option to go one day and i will be buying more tickets to aid the future of AFR. i dont feel i have the right to , but how about someone put up a post in each thread to grab the attention of those who dont cruise and enjoy the whole site? surely the information and inspiration gathered by even non members is worth showing some sort of thanks for !

This is about more than saving the future of the AFR....Its giving back something to the man that built,runs and finances this site, the man that puts up the money for T-shirt orders, calendars, patches,stickers etc and waits to get that money back over a long period.

While I am at it I think we could probably do without the guilt trips. I am a huge fan of this forum and most if not all of the people on it, I absolutely love the AFR however I am under the understanding that the whole thing came to a cost of around $80,000, people may disagree with me but it was not an $80,000 event. Sorry guys it was awesome but 80 grand it was not, I am fairly confident that the same money or less could buy a lot more for the weekend such as an already established venue like wakefield park, I am not suggesting Wakefield Park because I am in Canberra either I have travelled to Casino twice and would do it again. I just think that we paid for a hell of a lot of stuff like that not even half full oversized beer tent when there are a lot of established places available cheaper and more attractive to the public in nearby cities. If we want to make this thing the motorcycle version of Summernats lets face it Casino is not the place to do it.

As I said earlier this raffle is not just about the AFR, its about giving back something (and maybe winning something) to the man that has made this site/ASF/AFR thing happen.
Regardless of what happens in the future, whether the AFR stays, changes, moves whatever...if we don't help out now there won't be another AFR on the scale of the last 2...unless someone else wants to front up $80,000 and re-mortgage their house so we can go have a good time ?? .
I'm not looking to lay a guilt trip on anyone...we should all [u]want</u> to help..we shouldn't have to be pushed...

I'm with you on this one Blowie, I have been to 4 AFR's now, and it has probably cost me about 5 grand and a months leave. It's not my fault the gamble didn't pay off, so why am I meant to feel guilty? I have done everything I can to help and will remain a supporter and participant of AFR and ASF events for as long as I can. I just don't think I need a kicking every time I log on.
