That R6 unit is so much more trick than the 916 unit mate, it'll look great. When did the bike go black? Good to have you back again as well mate. I forgot to ask you last time you were around, the photo in the gallery has your bike next to a Bandit with PEST on the tank. Do you know the guys at Pest?
Keep us up to date with the progress mate.

YEA DONT I KNOW IT[:0]
ITS JUST TO HIDE ELECTRICS
BETTER COVERED THAT OPEN
ITS ALSO GOING TO GIVE PART OF THE BASE FOR THE SEAT UNIT
THE PLAN WILL BE THAT THE SEAT WILL BE MOULDED TO LOOK FINISHED
(OR COULD BE I HAVE CAST IRON BOLLOCKS)[}:)]

I'm really interested to see how that tail unit shapes up mate. Also, is that a spondon swinger - standard GSXR replacement or what were the specs you asked for? .....and what sort of money did it cost you as I know they ain't cheap?
spart666
29-10-2006, 09:15 PM
hi gix it aint a spondon its a pest engineered job as for price about £800 and that was a deal as we had two made at the same time the bandit and mine otherwise we were looking at 1200 as for the specs it was a spondon look i was after but not to spend the money
started to sort the elecs today so in about a fortnight sub should be finished and off to the painters and seat made

I used to live in Cheltenham mate, years ago, and Mark Robbins was a mate of mine. He helped me with my ZX10/ZZR fighter when he was still Polygon Engineering, he joined up with another Mark and moved to Gloucester to become PEST. He used to be a good bloke and had a really tidy Z1, but after what you have said about them I guess he isn't the autority behind the PEST thing as you wouldn't have an issue with them otherwise. Did you deal with them in the store or via the phone? I only ask as I was wondering if Mark Robbins is still with them.
spart666
30-10-2006, 05:44 AM
hi gix
mark robins was he the tall geezer 6.2plus if so as far as i remember he has gone it alone and yea a sorted bloke if its him il see if i can find out what hes doing
pest did some good stuff just some things piss you off like swing arm knoking off the brake side rear set, all the wiring finished in black wiring, secondry cooler welded to the subframe, torgue arm put on not true ripping out the thread due to the angle, front sprockrt nut coming off at the tt (scary)
the detail is what makes the differance the welding spot on
the ideas excellent the finish rushed.
did i complain no [:0]
whos to blame the company (not an individuall)
just puts you off all special builders and ive heard of a lot of horror stories, suppose the answer is do the detail yourself and get engineers to deal with the stuff that needs expertise which is were im at now[:p]

30-10-2006, 06:08 AM
just curious, but i see quite a few street fighters with the kicked up seats,
doesn't it hurt your balls?? mines bad enough just lifting the bike
spart666
30-10-2006, 08:38 AM
lol i sit pretty much at the front of the seat
back end looks high once your on its fine
also the fact that my wife ripped off my balls once she found out how much the nos kit cost lol

Good going Al - looking forward to seeing it finished. You're one of two people I know using the R6 seat unit - a refreshing change frok the usual 916 / MV Agusta F4 seat units that the vast majority of Brit builders seem to use. Kind of annoys me really - there's all the nice seat units like the R6, Aprilia RSV (new type) GSX-R Thou K5, ZX-6 and they keep using bloody 916 seat![}:)]
Anyways, Mark Robbins has departed from PEST - no fall out he's still doing a few things with them, but now doing his own engineeinrg like he used to.

NEW REMOTE IGNITION MOD
GOT THE NOS KIT WIRED IN ALL WORKING NO PROBLEMS NICE ARMING SWITCH MOD BLA BLA BLA
POLISHED OUT ALL THE NOS FITTINGS
TAPED IT ALL UP LOST/BINNED HALF A WIRING LOOM LOOKS WELL ORGANISED NOW
READY FOR DYNO 2K IGNITION SOME TIME
SO STARTED THE BIKE ALL WORKING ARMING SWITCH DOING WHATS IT MENT TO HOWEVER WHILST IT WAS ON THOUGHT CHECK ALL THE SWITCH GEAR
WHEN THE SIDE LIGHT SWITCH IS ON BACK LIGHTS COME AS THERE MENT TO
WHEN I GO TO THE MAIN ON SWITCH HEADLIGHTS COME ON BACK LIGHTS GO OFF
SO WIRING LOOM STRIPPED DOWN AGAIN AND TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM
