i got pulled this morning for an obscured numberplate, he wrote the ticket, and i nearly fell over when he said how much ......$320.....
then to top it off, he took a picture of it, and then he snapped off the rego holder, and said, I'm taking that, you can apply for a new one.

I would be putting in a formal complaint as it means you then had to ride with no rego label visible....which is breaking the law...

Was the rego holder bolted to the numberplate and "somehow" managed to spin around and obscure the odd number?

but even then it's still no reason for him to rip it off

he just damaged you motor vehicle and stole your rego label. both criminal acts. formally complain, stick to the facts. there is absolutely NO excuse for treatment like that.

shit yeah! he's fucked up B I G time. was the photo taken prior to the act of vandalism and are you able to get a copy
if the photo is to be used in evidence against you, you have a legal right to a copy
then press charges for vandalism and sue him in civil court
you should easily get enough for a new project bike, or whatever. and he has to pay costs.
fuck him up, fuck him over and fuck him off

When he took it i said, "so if i get pulled without rego now, i'll just tell em you took it?" he replied, " YEA just tell em i confiscated it " so he didn't sound worried that he'd done anything he'd get in trouble for....

Hey moog, I'd love to see you take it to court in NSW... They will laugh at you, charge you court cost, additional fine, a 3 to 6 month suspension and tell the cop off for not taking the whole bike (not just the rego tag) as under the nsw hoon laws the cops can take your vehicle off the road for 4 weeks. Its not worth the effort, pukka up and get a new rego holder, and don't put the new one over the plate.
