Huge thanks to Turbokat for his help today in scoring a bargain priced CBR400 for the wife.
Its gonna be just like a streetfighter but smaller.
No plans as yet...don't want to do a clone of the zzr6...been there, done that.....
<s>Any sensible suggestions/ideas</s>..Yeah like thats gonna happen here...

nice choice, you can get a relatively easy 59 hp from a NC29. Have a look at As an aside the top photo is a NC29 but the nekid photo is an earlier NC23, the NC29 has a much butcher cast frame and swinger than the fabricated NC23 unit

I remember seeing a CBR400 with a TRX or Tenere motor in it once. Don't know what's involved in the transplant, but would be a nice upgrade for the future ;)

Maybe a motor upgrade later...right now its just a case of getting her out on 2 wheels and her confidence back.
This is the right frame....

Rgv USD is definetely an option....I'll get it here first and then start working out ideas with her.

As an aside, I've got a 600RR seat unit on my NC29 now. Very easy to fit and a lot nicer than stock.

Or this...

The problem is the standard subframe hangs out the bottom of the fairings so if you want it to look professional you need a custom subby

The cbr600rr looks the goods...especially as I happen to have scored a subframe from an 05 model for a very good price.;)
And DD, whats the front fairing from on the red cbr ??

That's 600RR as well. I've got one on mine and it works very nicely. It was too easy to fit although that's a race bike so there was no need to worry about lights and mirrors

There's a fair bit of conversation on those at the 400greybike forum. They are plastic which is relatively brittle so are prone to cracking if they're not fitted well. They're certainly not just bolt on but if you take time with mounting and drilling they're hard to argue with at the price

i think if kept naked the 916 tail looks better.

Yeah...I've kinda got the 'been there done that' feeling with the 916 unit...
It's ultimately up to her but I prefer the cbr unit.

DiscoDan

at first glance the 916 units looks a bit too much Spada for my likes but it would be less so in the flesh. I have to agree, they're a bit overdone

The 916 style tail gives it a more classy european look.

The 916 tail looks shit ..... Its too big i think, i would go the other option

The 600RR seat is also very wide and long although it's pointy end masks some of the size. It certainly has a lot more sitting room that the original or a RS250 unit I also had on there for a while.

If you're going to make a custom subby then why not go for something svelte like a RS125 (although Radiobloke might have copyright on that) or R6?

After a 'discussion' last night with wifey [B)] it will be remaining fairly stock for now...she actually likes the look of them standard [:0]
Right now the main thing is getting her on 2 wheels again and if I have to build a stock honda then I so be it.
Once she's got her confidence back things may change...
She did however, say that alot depends on the state of the fairings when it turns up...if they're buggered plans could change [}:)];)
