My phone lives again!

After being drowned whilst I unloaded the barriers from the truck in heavy rain at AFR09 on Thursday my 16g iphone decided it wasn't gunna play any more. After a day infront of the heater in Scotty's cabin, it gave a small sign of life, but refused to turn on or take charge. Just out of curiousity I plugged it in to the computer this morning and it now works like nothing ever happened, I must say I was very relieved. Appoligies to all who have tried to contact me over the last 5 days, I've got a heap of messages and voicemails to go through and I'll get back to you all asap.

Hey hot tip - if you ever want to make sure a drowned phone will work the trick is to make sure the battery is out - don't turn it on while its still wet. Then you want to rinse it out with pure distilled water and then rinse it out one more time but with a combination of distilled water and metho. the metho should dry it out properly with out bridging any contacts when you turn it on.

I have of course not tried this. So if your phone fucks up its not my fault ;)

straight Metho works a treat, mixes well with water and evaporates fairly quick , had to dry my daughters after she dropped it in the dunny, made her pick it out though ;)

I had a 200 buck shitter fone once, kept putting it on the sink beside the shower to keep track of the time in the morning. phones don't like that, it stopped working took it to some optus service center dickheads. they pulled it apart "water damage on circuit board". then wanted $300 to repair it. to which I said suck my nuts, and took it home. plugged it in and it worked ! it had dried from being open on the tech's desk.... then I left it out in the yard the next day and it poured rain. fucks sake

Basically what I was told is, make sure its off, dont turn it on. take the battery out, and dry it as best you can,for as long as possible. my camera went in the wash, the batteries spewed all out on the inside and it rusted. so that was fucked but my memory card was fine after i stuck it in a thin sock and stashed it in a container of quick oats for a day or so (draws the moisture out).. never heard of the metho one tho
