So talking with a mate the other day that does allot of stainless fabrication. We are talking about fabing the turbo manifold on the 14 out of stainless, he did mention the grade but i can recall it right now, they do quite a bit of pressure system fabrication so i don't think it would be an issue.. Are there and disadvantages over going for stainless over say steam pipe?

the project is a T28 onto a gsx1400 running moderate boost 5-10 psi

Stainless is lighter than steam pipe
Stainless goes cool colours
Stainless tig welds really nice
Stainless is ummmm good
Have a look at Deano's thread

Stainless doesn't stain when you err.... make a mess on them[:I]

Stainless tends to stress fracture a lot easier than steam pipe[:p]

the stress fractures was my primary concern. My mate will be tig welding the lot.

321 if you can get it otherwise 304 or 316 in that order , don't use thin stuff, 1.6 is just ok but thicker is better.
it pulls like a bastard,
make a simple dummy structure that places the header flanges and turbo flange where you want then make a jig around this, then build your header.. flip side to having a jig is you can make more to order and if it does crack make a new one that fits perfectly with what you already have.
Header flange in 1 piece will help hold things at the correct distance, otherwise when you remove the headers in future they may not go back on easily

t28 it ok but borderline small on the 14, 2871 or 3071 would be better , i have a 3071 on my street busa and once i got used to the little more lag than the 28r quite like it, 28r hit hard and pushed up the 30r pushes forward.but if you have a 28r in hand .. go for it
