Thought I would post up this pic of what I'm up to with the Trixy. Decided I still had too much plastic, so after Jay's post about these small projector lights I thought they were just the thing. I delugged the headstock and did the triple clamps and the headstock in matt black to make it look all clean. The motogadget dash will go in just below the top clamp. Still have to paint the light bracket.
Interested on anyones thoughts on the height of the lights.

And a slightly different angle. The dash unit will fill the space between the clip on clamps.

look well tidy, wot sort of beam do you get from those lights[?]

stu
27-03-2009, 08:17 AM
As these are listed as a driving/fog light the product speil stated a narrow type beam. The beam seems OK, anything is better than the standard TRX headlight, but I tried a philips blue vision H3 bulb in one and that made a good improvement. I am going to experiment with a few other H3 bulbs of different lumen and kelvin ratings to see what difference they will make.

Cheers mate, but what I meant by side profile was a side profile of the entire bike not just the front. You can't get proportions by looking at just the front. Take it outside or move back in the garage so you can see the entire side of the bike, then we'll get somewhere.

that has really opened the front end up stu.......look's good but could you do hwy work with em at night ?

stu

Gonna roll it out and test the beam pattern and length with a few different globes tonight. See what I get and take it from there.

Decided to do a bit to the rear end. Trial fitted the YZF750 swing arm and R1 rear wheel today. Swing arm will go for powder coating tomorrow. Will pick up bearings and spacers to align rear wheel and am searching for a tail unit. Possibly 600RR, GSXR1000 or Trumpy 675.

Decided on the 600RR tail and picked one up on the weekend. So today cracked out the angle grinder and fitted it up. Also tidied up blemishes on the YZF750 swing arm which is now off for painting. Now just need to make an undertray and source a seat cowl.

Yeh, they are bloody hard to get your hands on. I gave up searching for a while but found one locally the other week. If you are really keen they tend to pop up on ebay motors in USA.

Stu, that tail suites the trx perfectly mate

stu that really looks the ducks guts very nice. the tail works nicely and flows with the lines of the rest of the bike. i am a trx fan and think that the trellis frame etc looks nice and is a good base to start with.

in the pics of the tail you have changed the headlight again? i thought the projector set up why very nice.

I told myself I'd never own another yamahahaha, but the TRX850's are looking good and sound pretty nice.
Looks great Stu.

stu

Yeah, those little projector lights didn't really give good enough lighting for me. I have to ride on a lot of dark roads and motorway/highways and they weren't up to scratch for that. I also thought the front needed some balancing out so went back this headlight unit that I had already cut into the shape I liked.

Nice one Stu. Your exhaust is identical to mine at the moment. I was thinking of getting the standard arm braced, not that TRX's need bracing, but it looks cool.

Kris.

Hey stu. I love the TReX mate. Usually the tank looks huge, bulbous and out of place, but with the CBRRRRRRRR tail on that angle, the lines of the bike really come together.

I quite like the lines that you have going here Stu , I know its a little bit of work But for mine I think if you raised the tail about 50 mm right through it would git the bike a more even flow and it actually reminds me of on of the MARTEK builds, I'll see if I can find the pic of the bike im thinking of.

Thanks mate, the final position will be about 35mm higher than where you see it in the images as the tail is just sitting on the frame 'cause I'm still making the mounting plates for it.
Yeah, wouldn't mind one of those Martek frames.[^]
