Picked this up this morning, its the 99 busa. It was barely ridden then stolen, wrecked and recovered like this, the good news being it has only just over 2000 kms on the clock..

The plan for this is to make my own frame, tank and rear cowl all from aluminium as per the 1100 but more to the dimensions and spec of a 750 for crazy wheelie fun times:D

Can you re-register it?

Is there some invisible writing here or something? Everyone keeps saying what a good deal it was but I can't see where Tom said how much he paid for it.

Yeh $1500, fucking bargain hey! Unfortunately Dan the frame cant be re regod as the damage to the rear deemed it a write off and the compliance plate was removed, the motor is ok though.
Since I started the 1100 build ive been thinking about doing a full build, frame tank the whole kit an kaboodle and when i saw this lying on a pallet I thought, fuck it, may as well go big straight out..
The plan is to build a tubular frame along the same lines as a spondon or harris.
This came about after talking the ears off steve burns and sweary bob last year where i asked so many questions im sure they think im remedial, however being awesome blokes they answered all my dumb questions between fighting the flies for thier lunch. Bloody champions.
Now one thing that popped up was the unavalibility of the grade of aluminium tubing required to build frames in australia. I cant remember the exact details because i was too busy talking gibberish and swatting flies so steve, expect a call..

Now i gotta go clean up the workshop and build a frame jig so i can get on with this..

If I had to pick a moteur for a transplant, that would be the one. Yummers.

Awesome buy, and I expect to see an awesome build follow. Great basis. If I was in your position, it would be a drag bike.

Dont get sucked in to thinking that you can actually finish any one of these projects, it looks like you are bitting off more than even a big bloke like you can chew.

Mate, great find, and along with your other build thread, I'll be watching with intent!

What ticks me off is that some poor bloke has lost he's pride an joy to scumbags that steal things! Lucky for you, (and us that watch you build) is that you get to create something awesome outta it! Good luck man, I'll be watching with everyone else.

Az, if you build a decent tubular frame for that, better make a jig off it - cause I may be requesting one.

Are you sure you can re-register with that motor? I'm not 100% on this, but I thought once a bike was declared a statutory write-off, neither frame nor motor could be re-registered [?]

Bear

Only the frame can't be re-registered. Otherwise you could blow your original motor and not be able to replace it.
The insuros write off the frame because it's deemed bent or weakened and therefore unsafe.

Azrael's bike is a Mk1,
the frame, if its a current model is a Mk2,
not sure if they are similar or same.

Azrael, bike was a steal.
I'd have grabbed it at that price too.
Having 2 Busa powered bikes in the garage it is THE motor to have,
anything else is just not the "real deal".
I'd be happy to have another any any day.

Look forward to seeing it develop.
