Tap it up to the next size sump plug, or put in a helicoil.

I used a 14mm Dia x20mm bolt from a hardware store with a copper washer and just drilled and tapped it out. All sorted.

That's one way to do it. The guy before me fucked mine up so I have the original sump bolt which threads into another conical bolt with an internal thread. The problem is the conical part doesn't fit up into the sump properly. Do you think I've bothered to fix it after 7 years? No. Don't do this method it sucks. Helicoil - Now there's an idea!

Repco etc sell oversize plugs and taps for car stuff, pick a size that suits & be very carefull to tap it square to the sealing surface.

Hey Oz, what thread is it?
If there is enough meat on it you can go up to the next size up. I should have taps to suit at work, let me know
