Got an old GS1000 sitting under my house, so after we both had a ball (I won a trophy:D) at the All Bike Drags at Willowbank a plan was hatched.

First move, strip it!

Took the airbox out with a chisel, a hammer, some screw drivers and a lot of swearing and found that these nice little rubber velocity stacks were in it..... COOL!!!

The Wiring loom was completely stuffed. It had signs of fire in the battery box and was cut and shut with house wire, so none of it actually matched the wiring diagram. We pulled it out to start fresh.

New stuff to go in, I'm shit with electrics so we'll see how we go.

You're gunna hafta jet the thing up by about 35% to compensate for the lack of airbox, I did exactly the same thing with my old GS & cornered the market in jets, Mick Hone just smiled & reached under the counter for the jet box when I walked in the door after a while.
Do youself a favour & set it up on a dyno.

Thanks for the tip turbs, will be tuned on dyno for sure. Might see if i can find some flatslides when we got some cash up too.

Found the rest of the velocity stacks which were chucked in random corners of the room and bashed to shit. Bashed them back into "round" kind of shape and attached to carbs.

Oldskool Keihin CR Smoothbores would be perfect for that thing, around 33mm should do it.

I agree, 44's a bit big. 36 mm 750 slabby carbs would bolt straight on too, methinks. Do the usual mods. You running a 2step?

I was told that you can run a 750 carb without to many hassels and you would get more power. This true? Anyone know if it would be worth the step?
