Considering the amount of anti harley sentiment within ASF, how many H/D owners do we have here? Off the top of my head i could proberly name 10 or 12, and thats not counting Buell owners. I thought this was supposed to be a non brand site. So who here owns a Harley/Buell? Dont be scared, put your hand up. Im not being a smart arse or shit stirrer i just would like to know.

I had a '79 Shovel as my 1st road bike and when i'm rich enough to afford 2 bikes i'll get another shovel. Every harley hater i let ride my bike came back saying "i get the attraction now" It's a different kind of buzz to riding a fighter but it's still a buzz

The next bike i buy will be a harley, Like Ryder said, different kind of buzz but still a buzz.

Yep just sold a custom shovel, nothing wrong with Harleys, just too slow, although i wouldn't mind trying a beefed up buell.

I have a new buell 1125r. Not much in common with harley though.

I did ride a Buell lightning at a demo day. It was nice, but not enough power after the new engine.

only ever rode 2 harleys .......well one wasnt officially a harley but a rebadged italin 2 stroke 250 it was horrible and my RD took it to the cleaners ,second one was a buell lightening loads of low down grunt but my trumpy would have it after 5000rpm the only objection i have to em is they should be cheaper ,a lot cheaper why pay top dollar for antiquated engineering

On my second one now.

1st one, 01 88CUI Softail, paid 27k, dumped in 20k, sold for 26k in 06.
Note the suicide clutch and jockey shift in the pic.
There's more pics there if you want to look.
http://www.phillby.com/bike/100_0071

Current one, 07 96CUI Roadking Custom, paid 32k.
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n249/blowngsxr11/alb005.jpg

I just got off it three hours ago after a two day run down the southwest of WA, mostly around 130 to 150kph on the back roads.

The road king is a fucking dream to ride and niether bikes gave a skerric of trouble, Harleys're fucking reliable now. Ducati is the new Harley in the breaking down stakes.

Jim, I get you in relation to the cost, but remember that Evolution engined Fat Boys are still getting around 20k. They stopped making the Evo's 10 years ago.

'84 FL stripped dresser, swingarm, Evo, 4sp, kicker, 3" open primary, chaindrive.
It's still in bits from its 'Winter freshen up' 3 years ago ;)
I personally don't have anything against H/Ds, usually the owners & their elitist and/or meathead attitude toward the brand are the problem.
I've done plenty of speedy rides with the Harley crew, anyone who tells you that H/Ds can't handle has never ridden one.
Choppers, on the other hand have no appeal to me whatsoever, I appreciate some of the one off engineering involved in building them but the FACT is - they're pretty much unrideable with no ground clearence, 5" wide primary belts hanging off the left side, 360 rear tyres & pizza cutter fronts, riding positions that don't let you turn the bars all the way to lock, etc. Only posers need apply.

Spot on, and they're ugly, well except for the V-rod range maybe, they're the only thing in the harley range that has made me take a second look.

Can't afford the price tag but i've ridden a couple. If I was looking for a cruiser and the budget was there I'd definitely look at the v-rods. The engine in those things are smooth as and the torque pulls like a diesel. I know a few guys on HDs and they are all top blokes so I've never really understood the harley bashing around here either. Two wheels are two wheels. You'll get dicks in any category - streetfighters is no exception. Its the cagers that we have to worry about and focus our angst on.

look at the closet doors fly open now!!!

i have riden a few harley models from 1200 sporties to current Fatboys and Customs and i can agree that there are different buzz about crusin on one. But if i where on the market for that style of bike i would have to say my money would go into a M109R. new technology and far more refined than a harley, not to mention about half the price. i just find criusers to limiting in there abilities.

Thats why i NEED one of everything!!

I thought Harleys would have been real popular on here ?

The streetfighter scene in general is going towards limp
show pony's with 360 touring tyres and 2" ground clearance.
Get your arse kicked by an old 600 ? Yeah, its OK as long as
you have plenty of bling, some trick paint and a cool exhaust.

NTB Pete's Busa is a top Streetfighter, as is Ozkats Stealth-busa,

Its not what I grew up with on bikes in the 70s.

In the old school way, we looked at other peoples bikes who you knew had worked their spuds off to create what they had, it may not have been to your taste, but to each his own?
A lot of guys in the past have sold their soul to keep their machines on the road, done without a lot to keep machine intact.

What happened with all this anal shit about my bikes better than yours ? Who cares ?

I was trying to make the point that the whole scene is
shifting towards "pretty" bikes more so than "tough" bikes.

I can see the point in Drag bikes, Stunt bikes, Turbo bikes,
7/11 hoon bikes, even pulling off a fairing and fitting Renthals
to a stocker for clowning about.

I've owned Dirt Bikes, Tourers, Sports Tourers, Nakeds,
Jap Classic's, Z1000, Stereo-type Bandit with a loud can and Renthals,
and even a Harley (although mine died from abuse)
All have their own niche. I personaly view Harleys as having more
in common with the Bling-Bling "streetfighters" that get trailered to
shows and hardley ridden and I see faired Turbo Busa's that kick-arse
and are sneaky to the spirit of Streetfighters.

Its useless to argue over whats a streetfighter, and your free to
ride what you like, I get enough grief for riding a Stock B-King and
a Ugly Naked Busa, but and least they are ridden hard and often, and
they do the job. I'd ride a stock bike that go's well before a show
winner with a 360 tyre and 1" ground clearance.

Perhaps im on the wrong forum ?

I stand by my original comment that Pete and Shayne's bikes float my boat.
Both have some "fight" in them.

Feel free to give me all the shit you like.
I'll be out chasing Sportsbikes around the dam's and
through the hill's all day with a big grin on my face.

I do`nt feel the need to want to look "tough" on a bike.
My Busas been called pretty, but hey who cares?

As I said one mans bling is another mans poison ;)

Live and let live brother.
