Hey Sitz,

Have you priced a replacement instrument pod? They wanted something like $2,500 for the digital one on my 955 Daytona!!

ok its dilema time.....what to do..?? My other bike a hornet 900 i have just found out is a repaired write off..Fcuk..yeah i realise i should have done a revs check when i bought it..But it was in showroom condition and i got it at a fair price..Anyway the idea was to sell that and use the proceeds to fix the daytona into a beast streetfighter.I only want and can afford one registered bike.So now that the hornet is not worth as much..say 6000..do i keep it and sell the daytona or get what i can for it and do up the daytona..The daytona is spotless except for the damaged fairings ..05 model 4000km..The hornet 24000km's plus some bling bling parts//Whatcha think??

do up the daytona

an original and great motorcycle
perfect base for a fighter IMO

Cut your losses and sell the Hornet. The Triumph has more balls and more style and will be a pretty original fighter. If you do it the other way you will kick yourself.

Is the Daytona a rep-write off? If not, do it up, sell for top dollar and fighter the Hornet.

The Hornet is essentially a Blade motor, isn't it? There's enough guys on this site with fightered Blades to know how to tweak them.

And the Dayt's only a 650.....

Oh, shit, I overlooked that it's only a 650! Run with what Hillsy said.

the dat 650 is a rep write off also...

Find a four leaf clover.... you have to get some good luck at some stage.... 2 bikes and both repairable writeoffs...

i dont mind so much that they are rep write off as the one i decide to keep i will ride into the ground with no view to selling.

So fix the Daytona and sell it. Show the new buyer the repairs, photos of damage, etc and you shouldn't lose too much over an un-repaired one. It's still an '05 with 4000 K's on the clock - and it will have a new fairing......

Sell them both and buy a Suzuki!

Thanx for the advise guys...I have decided to sell the hornet, whilst it still is in good nick with reasonably low km's.I will be advertising it for 6000.Does this price seem fair?.It has scorpion pipes ventura rack braided lines and stainless radiator guard and polished wheels.

i reckon it'll go pretty quick for that price! i would personally put it at around 7-7.5 because you're bound to get talked down a bit. but if it's urgent i reckon 6 will get a quick sale, especially with the pipes and lines and stuff.

Just did a revs check for the daytona. In nsw it has clear title and is not listed as a repaired bike.Is each state seperate?will i still need a engineer report for the bike?

03gixxerpilot
21-10-2006, 12:18 PM
stiz not sure about the each state Q but if you email me Vin and engine NO. i will run it through the QLD system for you if you like, can't provide cert but can do the check,

Also not sure or the requirments in NSW but in QLD if bike is stock and not on the revs or written of vechial register then it dosent need a engineers rreport just a road worthy, However if it modified them it well need aproval from a certified person to do such approvals ( each one depends on what is done IE a single seat conversion can be done at certian bike shops but fi you mod the frame then you have to get an cert from an approved engineer )

If you ring Vic Roads 131174 toll free. and quote the vin, engine no. and maybe last known rego number they will be able to tell you everything you need to know about the bike. You dont have to be in Vic to use it , i live in QLD and use Vic roads, they never ask so i never say. They can do any bike Australia wide.

stiz001
21-10-2006, 01:31 PM
yeah i checked with vic roads and its listed there as a repairable write no money owing .In nsw with revs clear title no money owing no repairable writeoff. So if i go to get blueslip will the rta cross check the vicroads database as that is where it was last registered?.Initially i just want the bike on the road..So just want lights ,screen, sppedo assembly.I want to do more with it,but just want it on the road for the moment
