Anyone got a good contact in the states to source a Factory Pro Shift Kit?

Matt Mladin imports wants $195 for it when i have seen them on US sites for as low as $71 US. I dont mind paying a bit of markup but it shits me when importers try to double the bloody price.

Boris, do Blades need these generally?? I have heard the 2001/2002 gsxr1000's need them as a matter of course.

I think most 80's and 90's bikes need a shift kit.

I think Suzuki make the best box's of the jap manufacturers as a rule, especially during the 90's.

Alot depends on the ownership and maintenance of the individual bike.

The reason I asked is that the Suzuki one does need doing. But

You can use the part from a DRZ 250 and it works perfect.

Can't help you with the Honda bit sorry.

If I was shopping for a bike made in the 2000's....which ones have BAD boxes?? From my expreience, anything Yamaha!!
But I know ASF member FIEND has broken his TL1000R box TWICE!!

LOL

Just kidding. Like i said the owner has a large bearing on gearbox performance. Cant get around bad design though. I think Honda has pretty worklike box's. Ok but pretty clunky. I found the zx9 were ok too. Most gixxer boxs were great. Not sure about now. Havent owned a Yamaha since a tzr250 on my L/P plates, so i cant comment.

Everyone will have their own opinions on this. Start a new topic and watch the fur fly!!

Maybe we could get half the forum offside and ask why every second fighter you see is fuckin 7/11 clone!!

Hey Boris, good point but would you believe I have a 7/11 (fully faired) in the shed!! But I haven't fightered it. I want to do something different like a blade or other. Thats why I'm asking the gearbox questions now. There's nothing worse than a box full of false neutrals!! I must say the 7/11 has a perfect box, the best I've ridden. I would rate (from my experience) Suzuki best then Kwaka and right at the bottom Yammie. I've never had a Honda roadie.
Starting a new topic..."rate your box" would be interesting, but you know what the masses will say....Gixsers rule!!
Cheers mate.

So Booster, the Busa has a better box than a Gixer?

Boris....don't worry, I'm going to put it on the site soon, up for sale, just to give the boys the pleasure of stipping her down themselves. I can see the ceremony already!
I looking for something a bit newer with EFI.

Cutcat the gsxrs i've had were/are great gearsets, my busa's are a bit clunky and several guys i know of had shift forks bend and dogs round off in second.
To prevent this on my turbo i had the gears back cut,at that time there was noticable rounding on the dogs, probably not far from jumping out of gear and damaging the shift fork
Should have been cut like the Gsxr's from new.
