Hmmmm, me likes too. What is that belly pan cut from?

stu
18-02-2009, 10:14 PM
Hey Docktor, I just cut away all the excess plastic and crap that Yamaha put there so it opens up that area(see pic). Also reshaping the tail unit. Saving hacking into the sub frame for a bit later. Don't know the origin of the bellypan Lucas, it was on the bike when I got it. Possibly Metisse or from one of the UK mobs perhaps.

They do put alot of shit under the tail unit don't they Stu! I'm looking at modding the plactic too. The subby is a little complicated just to cut without bracing.

Yeh Lucas, you've got that right. I still haven't made up my mind on a major tail unit mod yet. So no sub frame cutting at this point. Got to think long and hard about that one before I cut it off.

Found some good ideas just googling TRX images.

Nice ride matey, welcome.

G'day Miniman1. Front end is of 98/99 R1. Had to have a new steerer pin machined up using R1 specs at the lower clamp and TRX specs at the top yoke. Also had to press a sleeve into the R1 top yoke to make up for the smaller TRX pin diameter. That is all it needs. Length of the threads was the hardest bit to get right. You will also need to change the springs and revalve the forks to suit as the will be too soft if you stick them in as they are. The R1 clamps do have a bit more offset than the stock TRX so I will have to see what effect it has on the steering. I have had a quick spin on it and it does seem minimal. Might however stick some aftermarket rear sus link rods in to lift the tail a bit to sharpen it back up a shade. Metisse do some that lift the rear 33mm. Still thinking about that one. I will get a bit more done soon so I can get some more pics.

aint them trixiie's steel trelis subbies?
Should be piss easy to mod. HACK IT

stu

Scotty, spot on mate, a piece of piss to cut off as most of the trellis style subby is about the pillion perch . It's making my mind up on the tail unit to use that is the hard part. I tend to overthink these bits. It think the tail unit will make it or break it. Definately open to ideas if anyone wants to throw some in.

There you go gsxar. Haven't taken proper shots from the front as I am yet to decide on the final placement of the headlight unit, but this will give you an idea of what it will be like.
