Cheers mate, I'm doing me best. As for the round black things... I think that they are a bit conventional for my tastes so I'm going to run it on rails for a bit till I get the hang of it and take it from there. Don't they wear out too? Sounds like a waste of money to me...[:o)]

Been doing a bit more work on the blade. Muppet mounted 08 'Busa headlight. I am going to do the minimum to it to make it look tidy as its a big lump to start with and I don't want it to make the front end too heavy. Sorry about the shit photos, ma petite chou has buggered off with the kids for the weekend and taken the decent camera. Photography by phone I'm afraid...

Got a nice seat cowl from China, cheap as chips and very nice quality.

Got these saw blade discs from China as well. 130 shipped for a pair. Again the quality looks really good and they look farkin cool too. The wrinkles in the seat are coz it is still a bit big. I've trimmed the base and foam back a bit but stll need to do some final shaping.

Blade number one's tyres are nearing the end of their lives so I'll throw them on this so I can wheel it about a bit easier.. Help me to judge the proportions better too.

Propper andy avin a lave in ya shed mate, ha ha :D. Is that 8mm spacer something I should be considering mate, coz I'm chatting with Franks mate about spacers and studs to put an after market Civic wheel on my VFR arm matey.
The blade discs you got from China, are they really OK mate? I've seen some of the shite :( bikes they turn out and was a bit worried the discs might buckle as soon as they got hot [xx(]. How can you tell if they are good or not? do they have marks on them telling the grade of steel, or something like that [?]
The CBR600 switch gear Mike, is that a plug in and play option or is there going to be a bit of fuckin about to get it all to fit [?]

It is farkin way handy having machinery in the shed and I can't pretend it's not..
You should consider a spacer anyway as your VFR back wheel is likely 8 - 10mm out of line with the front. The Civic wheel may be worse depending on the offset. If you get me the measurements I'll knock you one up. Only takes about a half hour.
The discs are marked "Arashi", A mate of mine had a set on his blade and they never warped even though he tracked them and generally rode like a tit. They have plenty of movement on the pins without being loose. One of the big problems with these discs is that the pins are too tight so that when the disc gets hot they expand and stop the disc from floating any more which is what warps them.
The Cbr600 '99 switchgear fits straight on, even the pegs and holes align properly. The choke cable also is a drop in. The connectors for the electrics are different though so they have to be changed. Easy enough with a connector block from Maplins.
The curry was excellent, and I am still sinking cold ones. Life is good.

When I say measurements, I only need the thickness coz I know the rest. Wheel studs are 4 x 12.5mm on a 100mm PCD, brake bolts are 4 on a 110mm PCD with 45 degree offset to the wheel studs. Overall diameter is 122mm. [8D]

Easiest way is to stick the wheel on with any old spacer. Stick the straight edges down the sides of the wheels. Measure how far it is off centre and add that to the spacer you are using. You have to use a spacer coz mostly the wheel won't clear the swing arm you 'll also need the longer wheel studs fitted or the fucker won't bolt up. If your really stuck buy a big bag of 13mm washers. If you need a spare axle to shove the studs on let me know. I have one you can borrow and then let me have yours when you're done.

By the way, cheers Huey for the good words. The subframe is mocked up somewhat. The top mounts are done but I haven't had time to make the new cross piece for the rose jointed bars to bolt to from the top suspension mount. When it's finished it wont look much different to how it looks now as there won't be any more visible means of support. It is solid now though, and is as comfortable as my standard blade to sit on. I think that the seat height is a bit lower (10mm or so) and might cause problems on longer runs but I don't think it will. Glad the headlight seems to work, I'll do a bit to it - trim off unneeded mountings and whatnot - and might make some thing to cover the Vapor but that's pretty much it..

Teeny anoyance is that the bleed nipple fouls on the valve when the wheel rotates. The way around this is to make a short blanking plug for the bleed hole and replace the banjo bolt with one that has an integral bleed nipple.
I am going to make the caliper bracket as one piece from the hub mount and will then mount the caliper underneath as Ducati intended.
Mike, I was having a little snoop around on SFOC UK and I saw these matey.

Here's my solution. I bought '99 CBR600 switchgear for the right hand side. It has the wiring for the clutch switch so it plugs straight into the clutch perch. The other end looks like it will plug into the standard blade loom as well. I don't care that much that it does as I am going to hack it up severely to move everyting out of the way under the tank. The main thing though is that it has a subtle choke lever built in so I can ditch the car style knob off the yoke. Cost the square root of sweet diddly fuck all too. Which is nice.[8D]
Hey Mike, I got my CBR 600 switch gear through the post today and I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the end of the choke cable off to link it to the lever on the switch gear.
I also left a message on your mobile mate.

Lopped off the ignition mount and stuck on the vapor. Kind of looks a bit hung out on its own at the moment. When I stick on the headlight and the small deflector on the top that should integrate it better.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1245375408.jpg
You can just see the head of one of the dash mount allen bolts under the orange and green wires. When I cut off the ignition mount I left 4 - 5mm so that I could drill and tap without it being weakened too much.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1245397909.jpg
These are the holes that get left when you lop off the headstock sub frame mounts. I'll get them welded like Huey did.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1245367228.jpg
I also started trimming off all the brackets I won't use off the 'busa headlight. Looks a lot neater. Going to stick the indicators in here instad of the side lights a la Huey & CBRRT.
Should have the rubber on tomorrow or Friday so she'll look a lot more complete. More pics then.

Mikle I've hit another road block with the 600 switch gear mate. There seem to be a similar amount of wires on both switches, but I have noticed that the hi, lo, beam switch on the 600 is a big bugger and right where the 900's lights on and off is ment to be. On the 600 are the lights switched on and off on the ignition, or am I being a total twat and missing the point. I dont suppose you have done a wiring diagram (Colour to colour) how to join the 600's wires to the 900's conector blocks have you mate.
If you can help me I'll eat a snail mate.

Jonny boy has wisely pointed out that you either need to use a CBR 600 right hand switch set or mount a siwtch else where or you can't turn your lights on. Smart fucker me, haven't wired up my lights yet so I hadn't noticed [B)]
As it just activates a relay you can use a tiny switch. So off to Maplin's tomorrow.
CBRRRT
21-06-2009, 06:40 AM
I have been having a little play around Mike and most of the wires code up between the two, so I thought connect them up and see what works.
All my blinkers worked, front and rear. My top lamp flashed high beam when I pulled in the pass switch. The horn worked. Only thing that didnt was as you quite rightly say, switching the lights on (Side light) then to main beam when both lights come on.
The only two wires I was left with was a dark blue with a white stripe and a brown.
Now the dark blue with the white stripe is a long whire and comes down the loom with all the others on the 600 loom 'BUT' the same dark blue with the white stripe in the 900 switch gear goes from the 3 point light switch over to the pass switch.
Now, if you say the light switch on the 600 is on the other bar, that would explain why that wire in the 600 loom is so long, ' Because the pass switch and the light switch is on opposite bars'.
Next thing I did was to conect up the dark blue to the brown and when I pulled the pass switch both front lamps came on together, and all my blue LED's lit up. Did I tell you I'd fitted more? Oh well never mind, ha ha.
From what I can tell so far I need to locate a 3 way switch, 1. OFF 2. SIDE LIGHTS 3. SIDE AND MAIN BEAM TOGETHER, as on the 900.
It also needs to be small compact and something I can locate out of the way, but with easy access.
Any ideas Mike?
Tomanyprojex
21-06-2009, 07:21 AM
Yup, They do a sub-miniature toggle switch at maplins. They also do a waterproofing cover for the front of it and you can heat shrink wrap the back after you solder the wires to it to keep the nasties out. It's about £4 all in.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=sub%20miniature%20toggle&source=15
I'm not going to bother with the side lights because I have wired them as indicators in the busa headlight.... So a simple on/off one fer me..

Although I do know a song about that..
"making bacon is on my mind, bend over baby let me take you from behind, makin bacon" [}:)]
Got my fat arse into the garage to sort out the electrics so here's what happened.
I had both sets of bar switches off a CBR600 so I could use the integral choke and still have lights. Sorry Jon[:I]
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1248568731.jpg
Here are the connectors for the CBR600, I already cut one of them off. The left one is a 12 way and the right one is a nine.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1248558961.jpg
The loom connectors are 2 six way connectors on one side and a six way and a three way on the right side - the black and white connector blocks are the left ones.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1248556634.jpg
If you want to fool around with honda wiring these are the kitty. I didn't know it when I got them off Vehicle Wiring Products ( http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/connectors/multiconnectors.php - you want the mini 2.8mm connectors)that they were direct replacements. Cool as fuck. It means I only have to replace one set of connectors each side.
I only bought the kit coz I am rewiring another vehicle. You can buy the connectors seperately too and they don't cost much. You need 2 6 ways and a 9 way to do this job. They come with all the crimp on connectors you need
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1248543145.jpg
I crimped on the new connectors for the left hand switch.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1248483655.jpg
And stick them into 2 six way males so they fit straight into the loom.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1248570041.jpg
I put a 9 way male onto the loom for the right side so the switch plugged straight in. All the wires colour match as per the original CBR 900 wiring diagram. You do need to move the brown loom wire from the left to the right switch and connect it to to the brown and white.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1248606860.jpg
You also have to bridge 3 new connections from the left to the right on the loom side. 1 to connect the blue and white headlight feed on each side and 1 each to take the battery feeds (black brown and black red) from the left to the right. I used the nearest colour cable I could find so blue, brown and red.
A bit of insulation tape and you'll never know it's been fucked about with.

Got it running today :D Exhaust header gaskets leaking like fuck (will replace them today), no silencer, sounded like Armageddon, but it fucking ran..
Just for you Surt here are some pics of my other project which ma petite choux is insisting I finish...
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1250959409.jpg
This is the GM ECU, I pulled out the original shite soldered in chip and stuck in a ZIF socket so I can pull out the chip and remap it whenever I need to. Directly above the ECU is the ALDL outpiut. I've made up a cable that plugs the ALDL into a serial socket so I can use WINALDL or Tunerpro to do some data logging which will show me whar remap I need to do. When I've finished that I can use scanner pro on the same old laptop which will then act as a digital dashboard.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1250969169.jpg
Here is the big fat 440 mopar unit. Thorley headers, K&N filters, dual plane edelbrock intake manifold, MSD ignition with advance / retard adjustable on the fly to suit when running on LPG - Not bad for a shitty old camper van [:0]. The circular shiny ring with the braided lines sitting over the throttle body is the LPG mixer I made. There is a flap on the airbox so I can restrict airflow when I run LPG and not when I'm on gasoline so it runs properly on both..
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1250955618.jpg
Specially for you Jon, here is the combined petrol ECM, LPG ECM and alarm immobiliser loom that I made from scratch. There's over 130 metres(400 ft) in this bit alone. I like electrics [^]

I can't reprogram it on the fly but I can pull over remap and reburn the chip and be back on my way in about 10 minutes...
wat gudget d'u use for remappin?
Tomanyprojex
23-08-2009, 05:28 AM
Remappin? I use tuner pro on ALDL logging mode to capture the BLM data then use that to fuck with the tables, then I write the chip using a Burn2 that I got off moates.net. What's yer VFR shock fuckup and which of yer threads is it on????

I run it all on a shoddy old laptop - a Compaq Armada M700. The only other hardware I need is the Burn2 chip writer -runs via USB - and a homemade ALDL to serial cable... GM shit like the ECM is really low tech so you don't need clever shit...
yeah i meant just burn to chip :) how often d'u remap it and wy? never endin process of perfectionism? ;)

I had to start from scratch coz its a GM unit in an engine it was never designed for. I started with the map for a big block chevy 454.
This map isn't even good for the chevy it started on so I had to do a lot of work on the basic map to get it to run and idle right. Then you have to mess about with the cold starting, the power enrichment, fuel cut off on decceleration, stall protect etc. etc. to get it to run nice. And yes, it is kind of fun too..:D
The LPG ECM is 10 year newer technology - plug it in, set some basic parameters and run it in learn mode for a few miles and its done.

Just sourced loads of sheets of 1mm stainless 2 X 1.22 metre FOR FREE. Cool as. As soon as I get it I can start on stuff like the undertray and the battery box. Should pick it up early next week which is cool.

Working on sorting carbs for the eblayd. First set of carbs I bought (£30) were from some bloke who changed his mind about building a kit car, The throttle position sensor wasn't included. It ran OK with these but to release full power on acceleration you need a TPS. Later I noticed that the TPS mountings had all been cut off. Fuck. Then I noticed that a TPS cost £130. Double fuck. Next up bought a set of carbs that "needed new mixture screws" including a TPS for £50. Bargain. Wrong.... Needed new mixture screws = some hamfisted twat has tried to drill them out and 2 of the 4 carb bodies are scrap, including the one with the TPS mountings. Triple FUCK. The TPS was also smashed in the post Fuck fuck fuckety fucking fuck. I can't admit defeat even when I am totally beaten, and there is no way I am going to shell out £100+ for yet another set of carbs.
So I am now glueing the TPS back together - electronically it is OK amazingly enough. I am then going to transplant the left hand carb of the right hand pair (sitting on the bike) of the carbs that are scrap (because it has all the TPS mounts already in place) onto the left hand side of the ones fuckwit cut the mountings off. I'll have to make up a blanking plug but it should be simple enough....
Clear?? Right off we go then...

Shelled out £80 quid for another set of carbs. Now she runs lovely. I also have many carb spares... And a repaired and functional TPS for a spare. The free stainless turned out to be bollox. It was a load of stuff from a photoshoot and turned out to be stainless sheet of about 0.1mm on a plastic backing. Arse.

I straightened out the subframe with some precision engineered 2 X 4 with a carefully weighed fat fucker on the end of it. Turned out alright.. Because I chopped off the bottom mounts - too wide to fit - I had to think of something else.
Where you can see the two stainless bars going across there was a bent crosspiece which I removed. I made up a spacer to fit the upper shock mounting and have drilled 2 side plates to bolt across between the shock mount and the stainless bars that replaced the bent cross piece. These sideplates are rough as fuck but will get mchined up shortly. The stainless bars on their own won't be stiff enough to support my fat arse so they will pass through aluminium bars drilled to fit. When the steel bars are tightened they will be in tension and the aluminium bars will be in compression which will be strong and rigid enough to prevent my arse crack from being chafed by the back tyre. I hope so anyway...

Took the rocket launcher off the other blade and stuck this BEowulf thing on. Cheap as fuck, light too. Seems nicely made and sounds lovely, especially with the DB killer out. Road legal with it in though it still makes a nice noise.
It's a shitload shorter than the original. the tail pipe is level with the back of the tyre. Might stick a nicer version on the 'fighter
