I'm really annoyed for the couple who survived losing their house because they cleared any threatening surrounding trees out long before these fires, after learning from the previous Vic fires - the local council and greenies persucuted them and fined them over $100 000 for removing the trees.
That's wrong. I wonder if a court could over-turn that now.

Last big fires in Vic, I learned that a lot of the forrestry access roads where not maintained and left to grow over when the State Labour Govt. got in. A hell of a lot of forrest was locked away from any vehicle or recreational access. Consequently, fire fighters couldn't get into a lot of forest areas to fight the fires. Greenies again.

I reckon the people who make these laws and decisions should be held accountable. Where are their precious trees now? All fkn burnt!

You will find that most of the fire trails in OZ are fucked. i know all the ones that i have every seen were all fucked.
Yeah poor old reg evans, he was a ripper of an actor.(notice he didnt get a mention) I say throw the bastard that started the fires into the middle of whittlesea (spelling) with a a big fucking sign on him saying " I am the dumb mutha fucka that set the fires and murdered your friends and family"
Then and only then will true justice be done!

When I last lived in Victoria in the late 80s the Cain Kirner governments had shut down a lot of fire trails on "environmental grounds" in reality they had pissed our money (and some we didn't have)up against the wall, they simply couldn't afford the Forestry commission now the Department of Sustainability and Environment ( how gay is that name )or to maintain the roads.

I know for a fact that many 4X4 clubs were active in keeping the bush tracks clear and removing burnt wrecks that joyriders had dumped blocking fire tracks. I have done this myself on numerous occasions with a club I was with. The greenies put a stop to it stating that cars and bikes were ruining the tracks and "Disturbing" native fauna ???!!!??? There were very few "Hoons" that I saw and most were very responsible and took home more crap than they brought. Hope the tree huggers are happy now.

well if anyone saw the debate thing on the tv last night on "Sunday Night" a guy from the enviromental agengy. he stated and i quote "the leaf litter and grass wasnt the fuel" put it this way, he got grilled and got told he has no fuckin idea. now that all the areas are burnt out go and run a dozer through there and thin that shit out. push it all up into windrows and set fire to them. now is the time to clear it all out whilst every thing has been burnt out.
" THE GREENIES NEED TO WAKE UP TO EM SELVES AND DO THE NECESSARY CLEARING TO PROTECT FUTURE HOME OWNERS"
