View Full Version : Bushfires - Help needed in Marysville

12-02-2009, 02:07 PM
I'm sure everyone is as shocked about the bushfires in Victoria as I am and one of the worst hit areas is Marysville and its surrounds.

Many of us have spent many a happy hour in Marysville after blasting up and down the Black or Reefton Spurs and have enjoyed the hospitality of this wonderful place.

As we all know, nearly every building in and around Marysville has been destoyed and the community ripped apart. As soon as the roads are open and the police have vacated the area, there will be a massive clean up operation before the town can even start to think about re-building these communities that has been devastated.

This is where our community, the motorcycle community, can show what we are made of and really give back to a group of people who are always welcoming and friendly. Please contact as many people and clubs as you all know and gather an army to help the likes of Marysville, Buxton, Flowerdale and all the areas we love riding through and to so much.

Murrundindi Shire are still unaware of when the roads and towns will be open, but as soon as they are we must be ready.

Tell me when and where and I'll be there. Chippy by trade with access to a water jetter for cleaning down.

A short video of Marysville resident Bernie Culhane vowing to re-build the town.

The Yamaha Owners Club (ClubY) are also planning to organise a charity ride in the near future - it is called "A Ride for the Hills" - here's the link for more information...

I just got home from our family freinds farm in Myrtleford.
The town it's self is fine (now), some good freinds that own the stanly pub lost there property.
The "lucky" one's that (I was helping the CFA doing spot fire stuff in a DSE crusier slip on.)was called out to help were left with there property and stock, house n shit . some might think lucky, now they have no water. no feed. It's just unreal. Most of the old diggers recon that with out a good rain (prolly round june) that it's just to hard to get in to get them out.

The best thing we all can do is (I'd say it's all safe BUT for fuck's sake check....) is get up and around these affected towns and community's and spend dough.
If we dont get up there and get them back to normal there will be alot of pubs servo's and bakery's "n" shit realy struggle. Like they arnt now.
