Hi guys, this probably isnt to everyone's taste but there maybe a few interested including Ozkat who was keen for me to post some info.

A little while ago I bought a GSX Dragbike Project from MPE here in Brisbane, just a roller with all the important bits. The bike is being built along the lines of what the Yanks know as an Outlaw.

They are known as the fastest production-based non wheelie bar bikes around, running in the low 7-second range (now high 6-seconds) at speeds of 200mph. Typically they are long low and fast with either Nitrous or Turbo Power Adders.

There is a small band of people in Australia keen to see this form of racing run. At the moment there is no true Class in the ANDRA Rule Book but the Sport Compact Group have agreed to take us on board.

At the moment my motor is disassembled waiting on some parts to finish it off. Bike will run all motor till the Chassis is tuned then it will be stepped up to take a shot of Nitrous.

Some specs, Modified GSX frame with integral fuel tank and single shock conversion, extended EFE Body Work soon to be replaced with one piece extended Hayabusa Body, RGV Front, MPE Billet Triple Tree, Switches, extended Alumium Swingarm, Big Bore 1428, Worked Head, 40 Lectrons, Lockup Clutch, Marshall Auto Box, Nitrous Shifter, Phuematic controlled Ntrous Solenoids instead of the usual Electric, Schnitz Controller,

It is still a way off from its maiden voyage but I thought I would share a couple of pics before it gets its new body!

Thanks guys.

I am lucky I have someone working on the bike who knows what they are doing, big learning curve for me.

With its current motor combo it will go a solid 8, I will need to spend some dollars to dip it into the 7s. It will come but not for a while.

Well this weekend was the first weekend I have had where I could actually work on the Outlaw since my fractured ankle.

With a help of a good friend we achieved heaps, still a long way to go but it now feels like there is movement in the camp and we are heading in the right direction.

As I bought this bike as basic roller lots of decisions were needed to be made about many aspects of the bike, one in particular was what exhaust I would run.

My preference was for a Prostock Synper Style as opposed to a Sidewinder Exhaust for more clearance but it didnt look achievable as the tyre clearance just didnt look to be there.

The decision was made and we set about to dummying the motor into the frame to see what was required. Yep, confirmed what we thought and after a short brain storming session we decided to work on the chassis and set that up instead.

We are going to start out with a strut rear and when the pace requires it maybe look at a shock. So shock came out, a few dimensions taken, frame supported where we wanted it, bit of a fiddle here and there, forks dropped and wow our problem solved, we gained the 2 Inches we need for it to all work and the bike is actually now lower overall, Yohoo.

Todays job was to trial fit the new body work and much to my surprise it all fitted reasonably well. A few extra mounts will be required and a subframe for the fairings. So that will be the next job.

Thats enough for this weekend Bathurst is drawing to a close and I need to get my leg up its swallon like a melon

have to agree with that [}:)]

though it does look like there isnt much clearance between the bodywork and the tyre, dont forget that tyre will expand especially when doing the burnouts

Yep thats been the general consensus, in with the new out with the old. I was fond of the EFE body work but the new bodywork definately gives it attitude.

As Blue pointed out a bit more clearance will be needed in the final mounting, hopefully I can keep it similar looking to what you see there, little higher and a little further back.

The bike will run either a three quarter fairing or a baby busa nosecone with the final colour being most likely Satin Black or Red.

how come you changed from the slick?

Blue the bike came with the tyre you see there. It will be swapped out for a Shinko or a Micky Thompson Shootout Tyre.

I may look at a slick later when the new motor with Straight Cut Primary Gears goes in. The Helical gears dont live long with a slick.
