Electric start conversion

I have a friend that wants to buy a Honda NSR150 as her first bike.
However, they only came with a kick starter(she doesn't want kick start).
Does anyone know if it is possible to somehow convert these to electric start???

I doubt it, you'd need to install an electric starter motor which I do not imagine to be a straight bolt up fit. But fuck I'm usually wrong about everything else.

Sounds pretty hard/expensive to me. Starter motor, electrics, getting the drive through the cases onto the crank etc. It's a 150 2 stroke, surely they're not that hard to start?

I had a neighbour with one, she had to weigh about 45kg ringing wet. If she could manage it, it shouldn't be too much of a drama for your friend.

smash the crank cover and install a rip pull ala lawn mower style. apart from that its a massive huge large expensive stupid hopeless pointless job.

Thanx guys, the only reason I asked is that she has a dumbass friend that told her it is possible and would be an easy job, just wanted to make sure what I was telling her(not possible) is correct.

ha, get the genuis friend to do it then................ Just make sure the engine doesnt have a spot for a starter. some old trailies used to but didnt have a starter from memory....... maybe ? I dont know I cant remember, its all a haze of cheap drugs,moderately priced booze and expensive women

Even if it was possible it would still be expensive I think some one made a kit for one of the XRs and it was 2K

My first road bike when I was 16 was a 1972 Yamaha 200cc air cooled 2 stroke twin that had electric start as well as a kick start, what was different about the electric start was it had a generator instead of an alternator on the end of the crankshaft that doubled as the starter motor so there was no seperate starter motor.
No idea if something like a NSR150 could modified to work like that.

Such a kit does indeed exist . Saw an NSR150 with one fitted in the bike parking area at the local Westfields . The rider had a permanently damaged legs and fitted the kit was $2300 from some shop in Melbourne . I asked the obvious which is why not just buy a 250 with an electric leg and the answer was that they were too heavy to hold up at the lights & he wanted a sports bike . As I've helped in a few disabled bike conversions over the years it peaked my interest and I didn't think there would be a market for such a kit considering the compression is less then my lawn mower .

Yes, its is possible....almost anything like that is,
but would be a pain in the arse and take time and big money.

Most of the small stuff is piss easy to start.
Just like riding a bike, a small amount of talent beats
a vast amount of strength.
