View Full Version : Belt drive!!!
How hard do you reckon it would be to sort something like this out. There is one German company doing it but they charge 2000 Euro PLUS POSTAGE.
I can't see a tension wheel though

wont work on a braced swingarm either
i like the idea of em, but fuck its a lot of moneys [XX(]
They don't wear out and they are a lot more money than chains and sprockets but you (almost never) have to tighten them, oil them and they are quiet. Other than that I reckon they look crazy on something other than a tractor.
I think you nailed it Rod as far as the tension wheel but I thought that when the swingarm moved up and down it would slacken off too much which is OK with a chain but not idea with belts? Just a thought.

Obviously front and rear sprockets........ and a chain... derrrrrrrrr
The idler is an original buell belt idler pulley adapted to take a chain. I can only assume any belt to chain or chain to belt conversion is gunna need one too ?.

...and a lot of different ratio's.
Try changing your belt drive gearing for the drags,
touring, track days, stunting etc
Yeah, it can be done, but what a pain !
I dont see the nips putting rubber bands on Busa's,
GSXR's, Fireblades, R1's etc.
I wonder why that is.... ?

The Buell doesnt have any adjustment at the swingarm hence the need for the idler tension pulley and thus redundant when fitted to a japanese bike as showded in the top pic.
Mmmmm...polarised the crowd I see. I LOVE IT!!!!
