hi blokes,

was comutting yesterday on the missuses little gsx250
and every once in a while there would be a high pitch noise and the speedo would start being spastic

it sounded sort of like a thermo-fan kicking in then would go away after a few minutes

could it be the little wormdrive for the speedo doing something wierd?

didnt seem to effect (what little) power it has

any thoughts?

Could be something in the speedo drive system somewhere.
If you ride it again, try pulling in the clutch when it makes the noise; that will eliminate engine and stuff. And give you a clearer sound. Never hurts to pop the speedo cable off and give her a lube up :)

I've had this before - it'll be inside the speedo where the drive transfers to the needle shaft. Won't affect anything, but they can get pretty noisy.

there is a little plastic gear in the drive hub on the wheel that can run outta grease and shit itself.
Happened on my TRX
