Hi,

Just signed up today. I have an 04 ZX10R that I recently broke the nose cone off. So time to fighter it.

Figured I'd join up and have a read. See if there are any other fightered 10's around.

Ok so back to browsing the forums! Thanks for reading.

Cheers,
Troy.

BANDITROD, I actually just found that on the forums and was taking a look. Some nice ideas. Don't think I'll go as far as single sided swingarm but definately some ideas there.

Thanks for the welcome Fight Fan I will get pics up asap. Probably wont work on it for a while as I'm still healing from the crash.

Yeah ran up the ass of a car, some old lady was stopped in the middle of the road around a bend, meanwhile I was doing a headcheck and when i looked back is when I hit.

Was only at about 50 but i flew up in the air and came down on the road hard.

Broke my femur right through just below the ball joint of my hip. I now have a rod the length of my femur with screws, bolts and pins. Lots of fun. 2 operations and was in hospital for christmas. No the food doesnt get better for christmas day.

The bike has no nose on it at the moment. Front wheel seems ok still. Forks are slightly bent so I'll have to look at another set or even look into getting them straightened if thats even possible?

Other little bits and peices, peg, brake res, lever. Just small stuff.

Hi Troy.
Where you at? there's some real magicians around for straightening stuff, just a matter of knowing where to look.
Fractured femur.... shudder. Hope you mend well. But while you can't ride, that's the time to start picking up the little bits and pieces you'll need for your mods. Time to go shopping!

Welcome troy, i'm new here myself and am probably doing something similar to you with my 06 ZX10 in terms of ambition :) Mine has just had some cosmetic repairs and is at bikecraft awaiting some triples and some more paintwork.

Mine had been nicely modified by a previous owner :D

Wow thanks for the big welcome guys. Yeah the femur sucks. Broke it pretty bad so its taking a while to mend. Nice bike nmilne, love those colours.

Here's a few pics of the ride. Should be able to get the forks straightened and as long as I dont go slamming wheelies down they should hold up ok.

This pic worries me, ouch. Must have been how I chipped my hip bone.

Finished off my mates cluster for him, he has mine at the moment which I changed from the orange to the green too.

So I've got some bar end mirrors on the way in matt black (same as Large's one he has).

Also got some chrome pegs to go on since i broke one.

Got a headlight on the way too, its black but I'll be getting it painted. Not sure whether to keep the bike green or go for a different colour. I could go black I spose but I like standing out so orange could be on the cards with a nice sparkle in it. Not sure as of yet.

So as it stands my shopping list comprises of some front indicators that I need to mount somehow, bar end indicators would be cool. I want some risers and fat bars but I'm having trouble finding risers. Forks straightened. Brake lever, brake res and some paint.

That should take care of it to get it back on the road. I'll be painting the radiator a nice black too as Large did (thanks for the ideas mate haha).

Oh i also need a pulsing cover cause mine got chewed. Thats only around $100-150.

Again thanks for the warm welcome. I'll post updated pics as I do work (might make another thread in the appropriate section though).

Cheers,
Troy

Forks should be straighten-able. With the way the standard clamps taper on their top side I figured a replacement set of upper clamps would be the go. ABM make a kit for the ZX10 and you can buy either a 7/8 riser or a fat bar riser for them.

nmilne. It already has holes in it. So a 1" set of single mounting post risers for me and a couple washers will be fine. Just as Large has done. That way you keep the standard ignition mounting and it looks somewhat pro still.

Keepin it green.

Large went with a set of custom one-offs by the looks.

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/58204067260538.JPG

Not sure I'd use the holes in the casting to mount through. Diff design to the 06 though, it gives you less flat surface area. Think the ABM ones come with an ignition bracket to match the original barrel (yet to see in the flesh tho).

Project is comming along nicely.

Local bike shop has the engine cover I cracked.

$50 a fork to get them straightened.

I have bar end mirrors on the way. I have pegs on the way. I have handlebar risers on the way. Still waiting to win a headlight on ebay then it will be on its way.

I've taken the radiator off and sanded it ready for some hi temp matt black.

Only bad news is when the bike hit it split part of the seam welds equally on both sides, only a 1mm crack at worse but 3-4cms long.

So I need to get the frame straightened and welded. Which is going to cost me $450. The chap straightens frames for race bikes and even some brand new bikes out of the factory can be 5-10mm out he says. Better safe then sorry. Knowing I have a perfectly straight frame for $450 aint a bad deal. If you dont have cracks its only $350.

So once I get some progress I will make my own thread of the build and keep you's posted.

Thanks again everyone for the welcome, much appreciated!
