Ran down to Adelaide to catch up with an old mate we went up to Handorf ( an old German settlement) I was badly ripped off on the Buxom brunette waitresses I was expecting all we got was a skinny bloke with bad breath as head waiter and a surly older blonde. damnit!!!
I .....ed up on my mate who has one of the first XR1200s I pulled up next to him at a round about not noticing his right blinker drove straight into him dinged his heat shield and foot peg (wouldn't let me pay for em either)
Then the Birdwood museum then did the great ocean road but my mate hit a big cutout in the road on his XJR 13 hard enough to blow the cartridge in the forks and hurt his back so we headed home. from Melbourne instead of doing The Reefton / Black spur / Flowerdale /Yea ,Seymour
I did over 5000klms We did 1100 klicks on the first day to get us to Mildura, the seat was getting pretty hard on the last day on the trip home.
Adelaide and South Australia are so clean and Melbourne to an extent, getting back to Sydney / Newcastle was a bit discouraging seeing kids just gettting into there cars and putting their McDonalds rubbish outside the doors and driving off.

Birdwood Motoring Museum
I swear a kid ( who's favorite movies is probably the fast and the furious) stood next to the
1971 Ford Falcon GT HO Phase III
1971 Chrysler E38 Valiant Charger
1970 Holden Monaro HT GTS Coupe 'Bathurst'
1977 Holden LX Torana A9X Coupe
and yelled out "So wheres the Muscle cars" to his mates

Stop over in Naracoorte SA got stuck into the local wines.

Who would a thought back in old Seymour in t early days we'd be sitting here after a fine meal drinking Browns of Padthaway “Myra” Cabernet Sauvignon (and the rest of the wine list)
Aye we was lucky to have Pinkys Pizza and Victoria Bitter ........
Luxury, Why we only had Twiggy salami, home brew, and cheap port

Awesome photo story and stuff mate. Didn't know you flew a helicopter as well to get that second from last photo. Thanks mate, made me want to get on a bike and ride away again!

I am pretty impressed with the ZRX as a Tourer it was fairly packed down but still handled well.
Power is good even loaded.
Riding position is great no shoulder neck or back pains.

I will however get a screen with a lip or higher as there's a bit of buffeting . I am told it does not need to be much higher for an improvement
The seat is not good for long haul I've noticed on other forums that Corbin has turned to shit so I may look at getting a Sargent seat

Oh yeah I got an Ipod Nano just for the trip. fucking excellent on the long sections. There's some kickass mini docks you can fit in your gear run a power supply off your bike pull in to campsite get pissed and have your favorite tunes going.

Yes well Ahem, I had to pinch all the great ocean road pics of the net
cos while we agreed at a stop at Hungry Jacks in Warnambool that we would take it easy and stop for piccys at all the good spots, it didn't happen some how. The only time we stopped was on the real tight bits when a camper bus lost one of those 4X trailers and troweled two cars
We were however graced with the presence of nice blond (real nice)running up the road telling every one there was an accident of course when it cleared she was hundreds of meters down the road and her car was blocking the way.

glad to hear you liked the ZRX for touring, i just bought one a few weeks back and plan on doing both touring and sunday blasts round the mountains.

really keen on finding out about that ipod set up you have as i'm off on a 1200k round trip in a couple of weeks for the VVMC weekend and fancy some tunes on the way. also be interested on how you get on with finding a new screen.

i can tell you that i have a corbim seat on mine and really like it but then again i have nothing to compare it against.

Best thing you can do is get the ear bud phones I don't know much about this stuff but these worked pretty good at keeping wind noise out and sounded really good compared to the stock ones they have a two piece silicon bud and collar other than taking care putting the lid on I had no worries

dont worry about sony get $13 TDK ones (same style) from JB Hifi or wherever and they do pretty much the same job, no drama if you screw them up. or ebay cheapos in the same style.

cool photos & story, looks like you did a fair bit of straight stuff to even out all the nice bits!

I have been to that pub in Mildura had a few pints and a feed while waiting for a flight back to Adelaide.
Myself and a guy from where I used to work we were sat outside and a fucking great sand storm blew up. Lucky it had fucked off before the flight was due.
It was a rough bouncing flight back to Adelaide in one of those twin prop taxis [V].
