Hiya, how you's all doin
Just gotta say you blokes do some dead set fine work here. I've been keepin' track of this forum for about a year now and thought I'd finally join. I'm comin off my P's this year so I reckon it'd be a good time as any to get a project started with a real bike, when money allows that is. I don't have any skills with tools, I'm a graphic designer and 3d modeler, so that's the extent of my talent, but with enough beer I reckon i'd do alright.
I hope to get into it soon.
Anyways, cheers fellas.

With your skills, at least you'll be able to visualise and design and that's a big head-start! There are no boundaries except those in your mind... and the RTA. Welcome. :)

I'm working freelance at the moment, done a few things for friends of friends etc here and there, trying to get my experience going. I'd be more than happy to help where I can.

Here's a sample of what I can do. Done early last year.

Thanks mate, nice spotting. :)
Yeam I'm using max, I'm guessing you do too. I use the day & sky systems more for now though after never being happy with studio setup lighting.
Looks like we're in a similar boat mate, I'm looking to start industrial design at uni this year. How are you finding the course?

It's really good so far, Teaches you some good hand drawing skills which are great for drawing vehicles. You get to use pro engineer for cad modelling which is a little annoying after using max for so long but with it you can do stress testing as well as aerodynamics testing which i think would be pretty cool for designing fairings (haven't learnt that stuff yet though). We also use max for renderings cause proE doesn't have any real texturing options. If you wanna get a head start I recommend learning how to use HDR. It looks exceptional, but i've never really been that good at the textureing side of things.

The workshop has to be the best thing about industrial design though. the vacum forming tools would be one of my fave.

wow...that post was pretty long. what uni you doing it at? I'm at UC so if you go there you might see me round.

Awesome, looks like I chose the right course. I won't know where I've been accepted at till the 20th I think, but I'm hope'n to get into UTS. I studied at TAFE for 2 years so hopefully I can get credited into the course, the guy interviewing me said I had a chance, but fingers crossed.

I've touched on HDR's briefly, but like you, I'm not too texture savvy either. Thanks for the heads up mate.
I'm really looking forward to the workshop and cad aspects of the course, in fact thats what won me over instead of doing more graphic design stuff.

Thanks for all the info mate, much appreciated :)
