Hey boys and girls, check this bad ass R1 from New Zealand. One of my favs to date. Here's Slamdog's description:

"It's an '04 R1 bought with 1,300ks and was a write off. Have taken a year and a half to get to this stage but still lots of work to be done. Have made it road legal as it's better on the road than in the shed collecting dust"

I could live with the plastic thing on the rear wheel if it meant having a wicked arse end like that without getting pinged for no muddy

Nice, all black paint hiding all the modern nasties.

Two minds about the Wheel Cover or what ever it will be called.

I have been pulled over twice now on my stock bus with the cut undertail purely because my rear wheel is isnt covered to 45deg from the axle. I would put up with it for not having to deal with plod all though they will want a look anyway. Much better than an oversized hugger. Not sure how rigid it would be.

Love the seat, Buell like exhaust and the headlights as well.

Respect to the work.
But, the stumpy seat has to be like that? And whats that with the radiator covers? Very handy to have no decent rear hugger/ cover in NZ. That rear light will not last long, with all the hammering it'll get from the dirt thrown up from the tyre (without a hugger at all). And I wonder how much power/ torque you lose with this sort of exhaust. I don't like it. But my opinion is not important anyway.

Just for anybody reading this topic who is curious as to what Bladerod is, here's the link: http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1290

and for anyone that wants to see another take on the new shape R1 here's Wannabefast's bike: http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=902

Frankie, everyone is entitled to an opinion mate.
As for loosing the hugger Slamdog, I reckon that was all that needed doing. She'll look even better. One of the first bikes I've seen in ages which looks good from EVERY angle. You should be proud mate. It's like a muscle bound Ratt bike of the future.

Hi Veetwo tls,
The headlights are hellier off the shelf. The top light is mounted to the original mounting, the bottom one was made and welded to frame to fit light and stearing dampner. Will put pix on when I get my hands on a camera again.

sweet.
My tail light and under tray are getting the shit kicked out of them coz i have no proper muddy. Just over 1000 miles and they look like they have been sandblasted :(
So i an working on a guard that sits just off the rear of the swingarm and cups the rear tyre. Not what i wanted but really have to do something before the rear gets trashed.

nice work slam dog. i do like that tail.

thanks for the info mate :)
looking forward to the pics especialy your damper setup (its where id like to position mine or below the bottom clamp) mine gets a bit fisty when she touches down to earth again. so it needs one to be put back on.

And whats that with the radiator covers?

They are at least allowing the ram air to work and it's one way of tidying up the area.
Here's what mine looks like there with fairing removed:

This bike at least gives me some more idea's for mine.

I would love to see some more pics of the headlights and speedo mounting.

That's a damn nice lookin' R1! I dig the all black. I agree on the not letting it sit round in the shed deal too. Hence the wear on my tyres being rather close to the edges ;)

No i had slicks on and it had been raining but the track had mostly dryed out. I was right behind a guy as we came into the apex of the corner and he stuck his knee into a fuckin big puddle on the inside of the track [:0] what in turn splashed muddy water right in front of me :( the bike started to flick side to side and i thought i had her all under control then i think the guy behind me hit my back wheel and that was the end for both of us :D. i have a bruise on my arm and thats it but willy the guy that hit me ended up with a broken coller bone and a fuckin fat ankle.
I should have my baby all back together by next week ;)
