Wanted Laptop Computer

as the title says guys what i am after is a new laptop for my daughter who is still in primary school but i have been informed that she is one of few who dont have there own machine so the plan is to get her one for christmas to kill two birds with one stone but i dont want to spend a fortune and i was wondering if anyone here works at a computer or electrical place that may be able to get me a good deal.... i am only looking to spend $500-$700 i have seen little ones this cheap but now i cant find the fuckers

your looking at either the Asus Eee PC (latest version), or Toshiba NB100 both will be 1.6Ghz with 120G hard drive and 1G of ram. Perfectly competent and actually extremely good Computers for School and at Home and for less then $600

rod if you can afford the petrol itd be worth driving into melb to have a look around. i know sydney has a lot of little asian shops that dont advertise and you can score some pretty sweet bargains. also if you are going the EEEpc (asus mini laptop) there are shitloads on ebay from hong kong sometimes at ridiculous prices. and for a primary school kid theyd be excellent. can get the cheapest version for $349 i think. have a look at the website http://eeepc.asus.com/global/index.html

ok i got a acer aspire one 8.9" screen 1GB ram with a 120GB HD and i got it for $550 with a hardcase and i also gat a cash back of $69 so realy i olny payed $481 so i am pretty happy with that i got it from Dick smiths in Horsham (City closest to where i live) cheers for all the help guys
