Na I think he was trying to get more speed up before the impact.

That was basically a carbon copy of the first time I got on a motor bike... 8y/o on a lil honda monkey bike in a mates backyard... He explained really well how to go... but neglected to explain the whole stopping thing... BANG straight into the back fence LOL :D
