That is the neatest Kat I've seen for a while, very [8D] indeed.

Still there when I looked.

I wonder if the wheels realy are "factory" or a dealer fitment....or one of the 6 previous owners...?

No, the GSX1100ESD was never available with wire wheels, but faaaark does it look good!!!
I remember seeing one of these at SUZUKI SOUTH here in Adelaide (long since closed due to cr#@!*al fr@^d) when new at $4999 ride away!
At the time I was on the dole riding a SUZUKI TS125 STINGER (lol).

SD Kat would be my choice, similar motor and some parts as
the ESD non-Kat.

Wheels should look similar to the 1st GSXR slabsiders,
3 pairs of spokes, maybe not same size, but design ?

SD had a few engine mods, different wheels and neater alloy
footpegs not the fat rubber pegs as on early Kats.

Just from personal taste, the wires dont suit it.
I DO like wires, and they are great on the right bike, but the
Kat was not about being Old or Retro, it was about being up to date
(for its time) or even futuristic.

You're too young. In their day they were the goods. The latest and greatest most advanced bike ever built and produced. They were awesome. An achievement in motorcycling. It's simply that, that has made them an icon. Well that and a lot of guys never got to own one because they couldnt afford one and so now they can afford one they want it to relive their youth.

Well that plus the fact they are sexy for an 80's bike...

Yeah all of the above for me... I was still on my 250 licence when they came out... a mate had an 83/1100 and let me ride it.. I never got it out of 3rd and shat my pants and fell in love.... next 20 years I kept buynig and selling bikes but always wanted a Kat... last 2 years I have owned 3 and this one is by far the best bike I have ever ridden (for me). Im tall, its long, Im fat, its powerfull (1229), I cant ride for shit, its very forgiving... lots of warning when the front or rear is gonna go off on its own tangent...

I doubt I will ever sell this one, thanks to K.Rudd for bailing out the economy and saving my Kat lol... and I may even buy another...

Right now though Im am fixated on getting an RC51 SP1 or 2... another bike I wanted to own when it came out and bought a 1000K2 instead.

It is an age thing though... 20-30 year old riders generally dont pay much attention to mine.. anyone over 40 male or female will rush over to drool at it and generally talk your ears off :D

Kats are UGLY (bar a few ^^^ ) but one day i will have one, i'm 31 and love the old shitboxes all the new stuff looks the same .. Ghey .. all bling and shit, very uncool .. but the oldies with a few nice bits make an average looking bike into a great looking bike

Hey EFFIE I don't know my model numbers that well but the NZ KAT came from factory with wire wheels larger bore exhaust bigger cams and if you were really lucky they came with oval bore carburettors. 120 HP from memory

Yeah I think if you consider yourself a jap bike enthusiast.. its one of those bikes you kinda have to own at one time or another.
