There is no comparison between the quality of Deano's build and the cheaper throttlebody kit, you get what you pay for either in $ or hours.
But it would be a cheap and functional kit for someone .

It's got me thinking about it.

I have to wonder though could you put different seals in it or are you stuck running carbon seals?

If so whats recommended?

Draw thru needs carbon seals, there easily replaced and not that expensive (used to be $120 last time i did one)

Fairly easy to re bearing and seal a garrett turbo, mark the shaft and compressor wheel so they can be assembled in the current position and the balance will be ok, use t bar socket handles to r&r compressor nut so you don't bend the shaft.

For use on a standard big Jap-4, are any of the 2nd hand / common
car type turbo's suitable or useable for a draw through system ?
or are any more suited to running on bike oil pressures and
having carbon seals fitted than others ?

Something along the lines of "Mr Turbo or Z1RTC" or similar,
(as basic and simple as possible) but without the $4,000-US /
$6,000-AU price tag !

How common are T2 / T25 ?
(yes I know the T2 T25 is the model and they come in different spec's)

Compressor back plate is different for the carbon seal, also not expensive on its own (but the costs do start adding up)
Most late model stuff is designed for blow thru and the seal doesn't have to deal with vacuum,
Lots of small t3's out there anything from a vl commodare or smaller will do, still cheaper to fix the supplied turbo..
Bikes oil pressure varys lots , late stuff needs restricting early ball bearing cranks need more pressure or ball bearing turbo's.
Draw thru sucks...at least this one is injected..
