Righto - got my powder coating back - semi gloss satin black. Looks shit hot...

Unfortuntately the engine cases now stick out like dogs balls so I want to paint the engine.

Can anyone give me a how to being the easiest way to do this. I don't want to go to a huge amount of effort - I'm stripping the engine down in about 6-8 months for the muzzy big bore kit so I will dress it up pretty then. I just want to get it looking good in the meantime. Ta.

Stove black looks mint and you can spray or brush it.. mmmm black.. I wish i knew more about heat proof paints though an how much you can thin them..

Scuff em up with scotchbright and get an aerosl, semi gloss black. Don't worry about the heat they don't get that hot. Wont last for ever but should do for what you want.

Should I be worrying about gaskets etc? all the cases are off its just where the barrels meet the block.

hey pete i recently did some parts on the hyo i used vht high temp engine paint , i scuffed all parts with 1200 wet and dry preheated them under a heat lamp and the paint turned out great it is recommended on the can to bake the parts but i wasnt a huge fan of warping my bits , they do have a semi gloss but i used full gloss and it isnt ultra shiney but is a bit more than semi gloss , and luckly enough my gaskets were fine most of which were just orings

You'll be putting fuckall paint on mate, if the faces where the gaskets sit are showing mask them up, if there is overspray it will wash off with thinners, make sure surface is cleaned with wax and grease remover.
