Hi all.
I binned my R1 the other day...and someone planted the 'fighter seed. So, I followed some links, and here I am.
Streetfighters are definatly more "me" than run of the mill sportsbikes, so, it looks like that insurance money may fund a small project. :D
Hope to see a few fighters out there.

G'day Shortfuse, welcome mate.
If you want ideas on where to head with your R1 have a squizz at Bears bike, great example of how a shed built bike can turn out.
Welcome aboard mate. There is quite a movement over here now! Get some photo's up soon and we will see you around on a ride hopefully.

OK, just an update. Insurance came through and did not hurt with the R1, so it is back to original condition.
But I needed a project, so I built my wife a bike. Crappy ol GPX, but a bike all the same. It didn't really scratch the itch as you can imagine.
So, I started looking at a cafe racer. I tracked down the first bike I ever built, and was going to use the engine (ironhead sporty) out of that and squeeze it into a Norton Manx frame. I am glad I didn't, because I had done a few Harleys, and did not really want to do another.
Then, into my lap fell an '81 Honda CBX1000. *trumpeting angels sound*
I pick it up in a month, and will start with the stripdown. It only has 60 000 on the clock and is complete but pretty rough. Plan is to put on USD forks, and single sided swingarm, with underseat pipes. Pics will be posted as soon as I get it, but will be a longterm project. I am looking at 5 years, due to funds.
I look forward to sharing my build and skinned knuckles with ya's!
