I did some work for a Auto Electrician the other week, while there I asked the same question about a smaller lighter battery. After about 30 minutes research they recommended a Yacht CTX9-BS 12v 8Ah. The guy there reckons I'll get a good cold start out of it no worries. Its dimensions are 148mm wide, 85mm deep and 105mm high. Costs $75. Hope that helps

Not that I'm aware of, but maybe Latheboy or someone else will do a run of them?

I'm keen because I'm going to be needing one myself so maybe we could get a bulk buy happening?

I'll check with one of my boilermaker mates and see if QR can supply us with a couple. I'm sure their

apprentices need to learn how to make them anyway :)

If you have a Vice, hammer and a drill you can make one .. get some Al. and work out where you want it to go ... measure it out as a flat patten, cut you bits off you dont need and fold away ... just be aware that you will need to add abit of lenght for the bends..... DO NOT USE 6061 Al. it doesn't bend it cracks on the fold...
I wont do a run of them because each bike is different and the possition will be different, so id have to make it universal and thats ghey..... Get apprentices to make them is a good idea ....

And its a really good idea to have some thin rubber between the battery and the box.

i went to the battery shop with the battery in qestion and the guy brough out a heap.. there were a few which could fit but the 8ah went down to 6 or 5.5ah.. how would this affect the bike? would i need a jump start everytime i go riding?

Thats the question I asked and the dude recommended the 8aH. He reckons I'll get a good cold start.

thats the exact battery i have...its also sealed which is great but when its layed down the 85m deep turns into 85mm high and it needs to be anywhere below 70mm... what would 6 or 5.5ah do to a bike that ussually takes 8ah? longer start time... runs flat easier? does it change preformance?

went to battery world today.. and the guy said this battery would be good for the bike.. reckons they use these on small planes... depth is 70mm compared to the 80mm
