project "kompressor" is go!

97 tl100s unrestricted model,

things to come, K7 gix front end

07 R1 wheels, and rotors.

self built supercharger, 1 piece subframe, rearsets, fairings, fuel tank, intercooler, top tripple, fairing stay, modified swingarm (underbracing)

custom rear brake set up.

i'll keep you all in the loop. and post regular updates as there is a lot of engineering work that will sink in behind all the pretty plastics.. yes fairings, no not poofy plastic ones...

as she stands as off 18/10/08

Building your own Supercharger? Good work Joe.... What type of charger are you planning on making? I used to build them for a job so if i can help give me a yell..

using a compressor from a garret turbo, building a new center housing with a drive pully behind, i only need 80,000 rpm from the turbo compressor to see the peak boost value im after, max engine rpm is 10,000 so if i can build a drive thats 8-9:1 it should see me spot on. i can either make a large pully on the crank and a tiny one on the blower, or i can make a 2 step gearbox to gain the rpm.

LB i'll send you an email soon about machining up a houseing if your interested in doing that

You'd be better off spilting the ratio between the pulleys and a gear box so you dont have to have one massive bottom pulley and a little one at the charger....If you go 3:1 in the box and 3:1 at the pulleys you'll get over 90000 rpm at the impeller when on red line...
If you have a large and small pulley you will get belt slip ever with a gilmore belt ... Ghey ... Ill be happy to have a look at your design and machine something up for you ..

Can you build a planetary box to do most of the gear reduction ?? the rotrex do it this way up to 125000rpm(10:1) and have a 1:1 drive, reduces the chance of belt slip .

This should be good [8D]

i'll be keepin a close eye on this one mate :D

i was planning on going 1:2 drive from the crank, giving me 20,000 rpm when the motor obains 10k, this pulley then drives a cog in a gearbox, which turns another cog, connected on the same shaft as cog 2 is a larger cog which drives anther cog at a ratio of 1:4 giving me the 80,000rpm needed.

the other option is to go 1:3 then 1:3 giving me 90,000 rpm, which is more preferable... as it reduces the amount of gears needed. 2 cogs 2 pulleys. the 1st option requires 2 pulley, 4 cogs.

the idea and methods are stong in my head and fairly sound, it now comes down to manufacturing and my abilities to see it done.

booster im familur with the rotrex and have i had the spare 3,500 for one id get one.... actually maybe i wouldn;t im really keen to have the famous gear driven whine that comes with a blower :D

oh, just remembered

RUPES (owner of the awesome yet fucking never ridden SENTINEL) was toying with superchargers mate
i think he is still around the place on tlplanet

gathered some parts together.

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j70/crazymofojoe/tl1000s%20build/new-front-1.jpg

parts list is

07 GSXR 750 forks, tripples.
06 GSXR 600 calipers and m/c.
06 GSXR 600 clip ons.
07 GSXR 1000 front guard.
07 R1 wheels.
07 R1 discs.
04 R1 cush/hub.
08 CBR1000RR seats

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j70/crazymofojoe/DSCN6111-1.jpg

with the help of ivan and his skills on the lathe, ive been able to make the R1 Wheel and GSXR front end marry up and work well.

i also made up some spacers myself to space the disc's out.... anyone interested in doing the mod.. be warned theres shit loads of collars/spacers, washers that need to be machine up LOL

anywhoo... looks mint imo and so far the parts you see have dropped 3.9kg from the standard parts.

next up is making the rear wheel fit, once done, i'll start on making the custom swingarm (gull design), and making up a caliper mount to fit the WR450 rear caliper i intend on buying. At the same time i'll get to work on the custom subframe to boot.

stay tuned

cheers.joe.

mmmmmm not bad!!! how much power will it take to drive that system whilst under boost load ? % hp

cheers
