Tyre size help needed from a bike shop guy

I'm in the process of designing some new equipment for work and i need to know the widest and skinniest (front) tyre's you can buy, from roady's to dirty's to peewee50's... A front tyre that say's its 17/120/65 doesnt measure 120mm across the widest point so if someone could put a measuring stick over a few tyre id be very thankful ..
