g'day guys kinda new to this website.
i've recently bought a 99 suzuki sv650, and i finally got her running like a charm, now its time to deck her out and make her look sexy!!
i have a 2004 cbr600RR tail fairing and light which i though would look very nice on the ass of my first streefighter.
Just wondering if its possible to mod the sv's subframe, attach the cbr600rr's tail and if anyone has successfully attempted this before?
also it seems i may need to cut the tail fairing a little so it can sit closer to the bikes frame....any tips from the pros, or hints to get started?
thanx guys,
matt

not sure if anyone has done it but mate anything is possible and if you get really stuck post up pics and i am sure we can help out and as far as the subframe is concerned get the grinder/hacksaw out and get into it

i'd go for it
strip off the subframe (good luck doing it without snapping a tab on the sv plastics...)
and check it out
try to slip it over the subframe
is that RR an undertail pipe one?

i'm going to give it a go, i got the sv plastics off without a problem, got the hack saw out and chopped the subframe, its seems as if its going to be easy enough to mod the subframe as its steel, but i still think im going to have to cut the cbr plastics a little bit shorter, if i don't, i think it might just point a little too high to the sky (as the sv bolts are closer to the foot pegs 'lower' than the cbr).
and yer its the undertail one, i'm going to hopefully stick an undertail exhaust on it too (tips very welcome!!) was thinking of just getting a piece of pipe bent (professionally) and installing a slip on exhaust??
also, any tips on cutting fairing plastic, is there a special way to make it look neat, or is it a big NO NO..?

use a angle grinder with a cutoff wheel and then clean it up with a file and you should be right mate

Just use an Oxy set and sledge hammer, anything will fit then...
Have a look at the subframe of the seat unit and see if it would be easier to fit that than mod the SV one ... In hind sight i should have just bought the sub frame when i got the seat and fitted that up, but dont be scared any fuck up's can be fixed and its not that hard to if you really want it.... You can make anything fit to anything else you've just got to want it bad enough..

im just looking at the tail section now and im starting to think it would be easier to buy a cbr 05-06 fairing and get rid of the 04 one because of the length of the thing, the sub frames all good now, i cut it up, it fits just gotta weld a few brackets in to make it stay but unless i have it pointing really high im thinking the newer tail might be a better option....but then again it could look mean pointing high with an undertail exhaust....?
ps how do you post pics so i can show you guys what i mean

If this isn't the one check the archive items box when doing a search as well mate as I had to archive a lot of topics due to the forum slowing down a while ago.

that was the bike i was thinking about, i thought it had a different arse. Even still i reckon that it is an absolutely awesome looking ride.
as for the black sv with the undertail exhaust just above i personally would not want a exhaust that close to a shock, the heat would not do it any favours

The heat of the exhaust near the rear shock does absolutely nothing to it as I have my blade set up that way and as for the difference between the 2 SV's the second one has an 04-06 R1 underbraced swinger arm fitted and the white one appears to be the stock one thats why they are routed different[^]

so pretty much if i was to do it the second way i would need to change the swing arm.... hhmmm might just with option one i think i looks alright thanks

I'd go to the trouble of hiding the exhaust i think they look pox hanging out the side. it's like they were too lazy and left the job half done. have you considered a short can that finishes under the bike, if you don't want to mod the swingarm. i'm not sure who's it is but theres a pic of one on this site, the same guy who posted the fiberglass mould guide, i recognised the tail anyway.just a thought.

so if i was to consider changing the swing arm and all that because i want the exhaust under the seat, whats a good swing arm that fits on the sv easy enough, or is it a fucking hell of a job? would i need to change the wheels too? what kinda costs are involve? if i was too go through all that trouble is it much harder to put a single sided swing arm on? i've never really thought much into it before any hints recommendations, do's don'ts etc?

Late model R1 goes through the swingarm. Do it.

SSSA is the only way to go if you want a Real fighter;) girls will be throwing themselves at you and begging for sex when ever you stop at taffic lights/servo's anywhere you stop really... ;)
Dont know if its an easy fit or not mine wasn't but it could have been with a 750 swinger .. get the measuring stick out and measure yours and then find something (late model) that will fit
