Here you go guys. Rocket's ride.........

"This is the first time I've tried building a streetfighter but have been a
Suzuki (amongst others) fan for a while and when i decided to build a
fighter/occasional drag bike, it was only ever going to be an oil cooled
GSXR based bike.

It's got an 01 GSXRthou subframe, seat, undertray etc.
The rear hugger is now gone and I'm waiting on a top yoke conversion, fat
bars and brake lines that should arrive any day now. I will have that crappy
exhaust ceramic coated so it looks the shit, but won't cost a furtune.
The motor will get rebuilt with a 1216 kit in June and I have to get around
to sorting a small bikini fairing out for the front sometime soon.
The ducktail took a major hit from it's previous owner so i'm still working
at it with a heat gun and lots of patience to get it straight enough to
start sanding down to get ready to bog up.
I'm hoping to come up with something fancy to cover the gap between the tank
and the seat, as well as the top dubframe bracket with something cut from
the original side panels too but haven't looked at that properly yet so
don't know if it'll work.
I hope youse like it. Doesn't look much yet, but it'll turn out
allright......I hope.

Cheers

Rocket"

Actually, I was going to go as far as saying "Nice shed there mate" as well. I have to fight for room and light where my bike is, let alone have a barbie and sofa in there!

but you didn`t did you?

19-04-2006, 01:10 PM
And now we all know you're ugly terrible secret
:D
But we won't bag you out for riding a tractor mate, you do come from a rural area after all.........don't you?

Rocket
20-04-2006, 12:10 PM
yeah mate, that's rural Perth.

I just gave up on that poxy ducktail and bought another one I found locally which is not as badly damaged, hopefully the painter can make one good one out of two using his plastic welding skills.
You know, Suzuki quoted a new one at over $900 !!!!
But they graiciously knocked it down to $845, which was nice of them. But I still couldn't bring myself to pay that much for one.
Mind you, having now purchased two damaged s/hand ducktails and having the painter fix them up for me, it'll probably still cost $850 !!!
Yeah Mr Suzuki, that'll teach you !!!

cheers

have you seen a therapist about that chrome shit hanging on the wall rocket? or are you scared about how much the therapist will cost you cause the amount hanging there i would say you would have to see them about three times a week for 10 years, thats a big issue you have.

That's just the stuff that has fallen off the tractor over the last few years. Best place for it.

21-04-2006, 10:18 PM
if you look closely amongst the tractor parts you'll also notice some Ford and Honda gear,i dont think the therapy is working rocket.best you just kill yourself before the dementia sets in.:D

You're right mate. I believe it's called "Village People envy".
A tip for you guys, when you put the "G" on, the string goes at the back.

As for progress, my bars, top clamp and brake lines will be here any day.
I'm also revising the guage set up. Possibly with a smaller tacho and other stuff to keep it all close to the top clamp and fit under the bikini fairing.
I can't find a fairing I like yet though, I'm looking for something that looks like it might be factory, so the bugeyed new style ones are out and I'm not so keen on the Fazer type look either. I only have about a month before it has to go in for painting so i need to get something sorted soon.
Am going to pull the donk out tomorrow (maybe) and drop that off to be pulled down.
I'm still working on the engine specs but they will be finalised very soon. Although I'm fairly sure it'll go good.

Good one Nathan, i can take shit about the Harley mate.
All bikes are good, and if they're mine, they're even better !!

Sorry to hearthe body work won't fit Ken. I've been tripping over that shit for months now too.
I've got someone half lined up for it anyway. Not only that but I'm waaaaaaay over here in Perth.
