Got my rear wheel on today

And wheeled it back out side. Its covered in dust and crap at the moment so I'm gonna give it a bit of a clean up tomorrow. I decided the rear wheel looks better without the GP stripe on it so I ripped it off the front hoop. There are a few small scratches on the front wheel so I think I might take it off and get it refinished too.

Still got a bit of a way to go but I think its an improvement on what Mr. Honda San did.

Nice work mate. I also modded an R1 arse end to fit my bike (which is a 95 GSXR1100WS). I didnt end up going for the standard exhaust pipes or similar as i didnt have the required space to put the pipe up through the standard swing arm. I will eventually do the SSSA conversion one day and then will change from the side mount currently on bike to the undertail exhaust..

Top effort mate, will look forward to seeing the finished product.

Not sure if it will go in Jarrod, but a Triumph SSSA would look the nuts on your gixa matey, that way you can keep the three spoke wheel. then mount your Akrapovic in one under seat recess and a NOS bottle in the other.

I cant quite see what you've done with your rear seat matey, have you fitted a flat plate? or is it that the pod is off in the photo.

Anyway mate its a fucking nice bike, did you make your tail tidy or is it an after market jobby?

I love the Suzukis matey, last year I brought a Brand new Bandit, but I wanted to do something a bit more rad with it and thought I would fuck the warrenty if I took a hack saw to it, so I sold it and brought the blade to do up.

I loved that bike so much, and I had so much fun on it I decided to design something to keep with me an remind me of it for a long time to come.

It was a fantastic bike for showing off on, and the front end was in the air more than it was on the ground.

I did quite a lot of bolt on's including Zorst, jacked up the rear end, cam link oil lines, and a few other bits and bobs, but as I said she had to go.

Cheers matey, I understand I can get a set of USD forks from a 929 Blade that will bolt straight on, as far as the front guard mate, have you got any ideas what to replace it with.

The bike is going to be a rolling project and I intend to keep it for a long while to come and do a bit more each year.

This year I'm thinking of putting the fairing back on because the engine is a bit shabby and really could do with dropping out and being painted.

Eventually the old girl will have billet risers and yokes and flat drag bars.

The paint is going to set me back about £1,000 $2,100'ish and I have a family and a world recession to think about, so to get it back out and ride it I'm gonna have to think a bit about what I spend over the next few months.

And to be honest mate, I'm gagging to get back out on it.

Quick question Jarrod. Is your rear light an LED unit and if it is how did you wire it up?

Mine came from ebay without instructions. Not sure what wire is for blinkers, lights etc.

Hey Mate,

Sorry for the late reply. The rear light is a standard brake light. With only 3 wires coming out of it.. I did the old style work to find out which way to connect it lol... played with putting wires on Neg and Positive wires with a ground wire... From memory, blue is ground and the other two unsure.

As for the rear cover. that photo was prior to me putting on cowl. I have exactly the same one as you on mine. As for the tail tidy, its actually just an R1 version I got from a local parts distributor. Sad thing is that it had an R1 cut out of it so its covered with a bit of black tape lmao...

Just going thru a career change with a move to the other side of the country so I think the SSSA is going to be a considerable time away :(

Talk soon mate

Cheers Mate for the compliment as for mounting the guard , all I did was run a bit of alliminum angle up the inside of the guard along the fork leg , I made one of the angles longer and drilled out the 2 holes where the axel bolts are and just used a plastic hose clamp for the top . Its rock solid and the look that I was after ,easy as;) Give us a yell mate if you are really keen I can take it off and do some pics.So really ,you have no excuses to leave the Flairing On[V] bit of sanding on the headers and some heat proof paint . Most defiantly interested in what you did mate. So far I have a CBR 900 with Yamaha this and VFR that, and to add a Kawasaki other would bring another perspective to the build.

Any photos you can provide would be gratefully received matey, and when I do the work and add the progress photos to this thread, I will pass all the credit back to you.

One other question.

All that wiring that hangs out the side of the blade and was attached to the inside of the fairing, WTF do I do with it all when I ebay the spastic plastic.

Yesterday I answered a knock on the door, only to be confronted by a man carrying a vacuum cleaner.

'Good morning,' said the guy. 'If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners.'
"Forget it' I said. 'I haven't got any money, I'm building a streetfighter and I´m broke!' then started to close the door.
Quick as a flash, the twat wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open. 'Don't be too hasty!' he said. 'Not until you have at least seen my demonstration.'

And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse shit onto my hallway carpet.

'If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Sir, I will personally eat the remainder.'

I stepped back and said, 'Well I hope you've got a fucking good appetite matey, because they cut off my electricity this morning..."

That would be good matey, I wanted to go the ACE streetfighters day last year but was in France fishing that week, bummer. Oh well I had some monster carp that week so it wasnt a total loss.

8 Months matey, what country do you live in coz I cant remember having a summer [8D] lol

I guess I'm about the same in the other direction from the Ace, I live just the other side of Colchester. We have a bike meet at Bently green every wednesday evening in the summer, and get about 1000 bikes there on a good day. [^]

The pub puts on a BBQ and there is a burger van there too [:p]. Its quite impressive if you havent been before, as there is a long straight road through the village green and all the nutters pop wheelies as they come through, that is when the Police are not about ;), but last year the fuckers were there most weeks with their ride safe promo :(. Made things a bit awkward really coz no one wants them there, but they think they are part of the bike scene 'CUNTS':(

Anyway, it dont really affect me coz I would never do anything so dangerious as wheelie [}:)]

Do you do the Ace to southend bike run matey? thats always a good crack.

Never done any runs from the Ace sadly.

But we meet some mates down at the Ace for speshul events.

My life went badly sideways 7 years ago with a bike smash, and I only got final settlement on my accident claim last year after many major ops and agro, you know the kind of shite ;):D
Got £12,000 worth of internal Titanium race wear :D set off airport metal detectors big style ! lol

New life, new home, new woman, so still finding my feet a bit.
I tend to go up the midlands biker events and meetings as its my old stomping ground.

I like the east of england though, slower pace of life, compared to west midlands [8D]

Top job. I lack the patience for fiddly jobs like that. I would have cut up a jandal/thong/flip flop glued it on and mattblacked it.

Just rememberd also! sorry if reposting this but the racing baffle conversion, messy fiddly LOUD. Very satisfied but really fucking loud, going to put some pipes back in with a slight baffle (holes drilled through with a washer welded on end sort of thing) you would not have had them running either!!!!! Mine shot blue flames out 2-3 feet out the back (which I liked a lot) Went for a quick squirt up the freeway and came back to find my new cover and light melted [:0] Patched both up but was fucking grumpy. it seems the length you take out to take the ends off puts them closer to the light etc than stock, also without the inner pipe on the ends more so. So there is an expensive mistake for you not to make. Enjoying watching the build.

Now that's and interesting take! I have always modified the easy part (the seat) to match the tank by re-upholstering it, but not you! You alter the tank to meet the seat. Radical man, but I love it!

CBRRRT

To be honest matey I took off the seat to add a bit more foam and saw that the cover only just fitted the sub-structure and adding anything to it would make the cover not fit. So from that point of view I took the easy option and made a tank protector. I guess we all see things different matey. Good job we do really, coz I now got an 06 ZXR front fender on it on the advice of HueyonaBlade, and I would have never thought of that.

I cant wait to hear mine roar Ha Ha.... As I'm getting the guy in the next town to weld up my link pipe for me I might ask him to add 20mm or so to my can pipes.

There is a really good chance he will hear it! I would go mor than 20mm they flow that well the heat is intense.

It all looked like a pile of guts when I started, but ended up not to bad at all.

I'm well pleased.

Remember that?

Well I forgot to say at the time my Fireblade battery would'nt fit in the box because it was bigger than the R1 jobby.

It been in the back of my mind for a while now that although I'm quite sure I got all the wires in the right place, there is always an element of self doubt.

Well I got myself an R1 battery yesterday and dropped it straight in, turned the key and and the starter turned the engine over first push on the button.

Saying that I'm not sure how long it will be before I can ride it again as I have just got out of the Doctors.

I told him I've got a cricket ball stuck up my arse.'
He said 'How's that?'
I said 'Don't you fuckin start.'

Dave, did you paint the lower legs on your forks or did you have them powder coated. If you painted them did you use a special primer for aluminium, because someone told me today you cant use normal primer on ally. Is that true?

I think if I did my forks black the zip tie would blend in better to the point it would be hard to see, as is yours mate.

Nah matey (entre vo Gibbo)I had to get into them with a pretty good sand though because they have a clear anodising on them but to my knowledge they were done in your garden variety primer for normal body work, then they were done in a Satin 2 pac finish as was the swinger[:p] Good to see that I was able to help you out mate I think that the kwaka guard really suits the blade even with the conventional forks , love your forward thinking mate with the tank you are having a real dip at it I personal would blend it into the tank with matching paint rather then black , just my 2p worth;)

Bad news mate! Sure it'll come good for you though, you seem like the kind of bloke that would be an assett to any company.
As for the primer on your forks you will need an etching primer that is compatible with aluminium then primer, talk to your local paimt supplier.
All the best to you mate.

Cheers Gibbo, kind words indeed matey. I've been in the construction industry now for 31 yeasr, I spent 20 years a carpenter and joiner working on 3 continents, and the last 11 years a site manager, and if there is one thing I have learned about construction, and life in general, its to roll with the punches mate.

I have a good C.V. and I wont be out of work for very long matey.

The etching primer, is that the same as the acid etch primer I used on the bare metal of my petrol tank mate, or a special etcher for aluminium.

I'm learning all the time buddy, and I couldnt be in a better place to do it. thanks for taking an interest mate.

Acid etch will do fine, just give them a good scuff, clean them and etch immediately.
