Hi mate, thanks for reading my thread.
I made an extra hole just in front of the chain to not only get it a bit more stable, but also to make it sit right as it sat with a bit of a twist. You can chuck any old shite on for the MOT mate coz as soon as you get back home it comes off again ;).

I'd love to see a couple of shots of your blade mate, so be my guest and post a couple on my thread. I like to think of this place as my shed / workshop, a place where mates can drop in anytime for a chat and exchange ideas, or just take the piss [:o)], lol. Its all good mate.

Well..... fuckwit who had the slabby overtorqued the sump bolt and it threaded... so rather than spend another £45 on a helicoil kit, I've tapped my mate who works in a mechanics to use theirs.

A120 is ok... used to do that run years ago to Clacton. My best mate lives in Dagenham, so next time (if I ever get the bloody chance at this rate) I'll see if you lot are about. You going to Bikers in Paradise show Bert?

Hey CBRRRT, I am about to do a sssa conversion on my 94 blade. Got most of the parts and most of the info but I do have a couple of questions. Could you tell me how many links your chain is? I found somewhere that the vfr front sprocket fits the blade, so could I than get a vfr chainset ( 16/43 and 112 links). My other question is about the rear shock. Looked at your pictures and it looks as if the shock isn't perfectly straight. Or is that just my imagination. Compliments on your bike, really love it

1. I had only just put a new chain on my blade when I decided to do the conversion so I added 4 links and 2 connectors

2. The pitch on the VFR sprockets is different to the CBR's so I went to http://www.sprocketsunlimited.com/Index.html and got them to make me a 48 tooth sprocket with the CBR pitch, but the VFR centre and fixings (£42.00) all in.

3. The shock sits perfect, and I used the CBR shock over the VFR unit as its a performance shock over a touring off the VFR.

Hope that helps mate. For more info check my index on page 1. or drop me another post or PM. Glad to help mate, hope it all goes well.

Just one more thing. Use a 35mm spacer on your arm as I used a 25mm from info I found on the net and found it to be a bit to short. Makes no difference to the conversion, but the castle nut will sit better.

You might want to check out this page too as it will save you alot of fucking around later if you decide to run you break line through your arm.

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12308&whichpage=53

If you do think you might want to do it at a later date then drill your arm before you put it on you bike mate, much easier.

Hey Jon,

What are you saying about the pitch?

Please explain i dont understand...

I bought a regular sprocket kit for a vfr...

Is it the pitch between the rolls in the chain or is it the line up of the sprockets thats fucks up?

CBRRRT
16-04-2010, 03:26 PM
Its the pitch between the rollers in the chain mate. The VFR has a 520 pitch, and the CBR has a 525 pitch. YOU CANT MIX THEM!!!.

If you are gonna keep your front sprocket and chain then you need to have a VFR sprocket with a 525 pitch made, and add 4 links to your chain because the VFR arm is longer.

If you got a sprocket kit for a VFR, and it includes a front sprocket you are OK, because a VFR front will go on a CBR.

Only thing you might need to check is the length of your chain.

How I understand it: pitch is indeed the distance between roller centres of a chain. On almost all modern bikes it is standardised at 5/8".

The 520/525/530 measurement is actually related to the thickness of the sprocket/s - 520 being thin, and generally suited to racebikes or race replicas, and 530 being thick, where you're looking more for long-term strength and durability. VFR is 530 standard, as are Busa, Blackbird, ZX-12R, in the interest of decent drivetrain life.

As said, VFR is 530, I would not be surprised if CBR was 525 (as it's a lighter sportsbike) and yep you sure can't mix them.

[u]This is what Tomanyprojex had to say on the jubject some time back:</u>

Quote; Just for reference, the first 5 in 525 refers to the pitch in eighths of an inch. The 2 and 5 refer to the roller diameter, again in eighths = 2.5/8 = 5/16 about 7.94mmm.

I cant comment on the above, coz um a thick cunt and dont understand half of what that brainy fucker comes out with. Thing is, he's been right about everything else so I would think its a safe bet the above is bang on too.

Up doing my conversion now to the sssa...

One Q...

Did your spacer actualy seal against the dustseal on the right side of the svingarm?

Mine doesnt...

THinking of doing one that is 26 mm outside diameter.

What do you think Jon?

CBRRRT
22-04-2010, 08:53 AM
It sat just inside the arm mate, it was 25mm o/s diameter and was held in place with a little grease.

Hope that helps mate

blaa
23-04-2010, 06:30 AM
I bought a tighter sealing instead...

I mounted my sssa today.

I would recomend to not do the spacer 35 long i would do it 30 if i would produce a new one.

mine was 35 long and the problem is that the pivotbolt isnt long enough so the nut on the left side doesnt get enough thread . il have to watch mine so it doesnt climb out and i end up with just one wheel and no sssa...

Anyone else interested in the conversion this may help you to make the right choice.

The one on the left is the right arm, and the one on the right is wrong. they also have some codes on them that refer to the year of manufacture.

depending on the size of the rim
i can't remember off hand what size

to fit the 750 arm..not a big job..
notch out where it fits over the nuts for the disc

KOSO DB-01 SPEEDO / RPM

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1275735176.jpg

I fitted a set of new KOSO clocks last weekend and all was fine untill I came to the setup of the RPM. I entred my blade was a 4 stroke 4 piston but the RPM guage was way out

I had a play with the piston setting and the penny finally droped.

So here we go.

The whole piston thing is a little confusing because my 918 Fireblade has 4.
Its not how many pistons does the bike have, its how many are fed from each coil.

My blade has 4 pistons but 2 coils, 1 coil feeds 2 pistons.
The RPM is wired into 1 of the coils so it picks up two pistons.

The corect setting for a 1996 CBR 900RR is (4 stroke 2 pistons)

This will give the corect reading at idle of 1000 RPM

So if this helps anyone else with a blade that has a 16" front wheel in the U.K.

PRESS BOTH BUTTONS FOR 3 SECONDS

PRESS RIGHT BUTTON ONCE TO SET KPH/MPH TO MPH

PRESS LEFT BUTTON ONCE MORE TO SET WHEEL DIAMETER

USING THE RIGHT BUTTON TO KEY IN NUMBERS AND THE LEFT BUTTON TO MOVE TO THE NEXT DIGIT KEY IN 1810 FOR WHEEL CERCUMFERENCE. AND 6P FOR SIX MAGNETS.

PRESS LEFT BUTTON TO MOVE ON TO RPM.

SET THE SCREEN FOR 4C (4 STROKE) AND 2P (2PISTONS)

PRESS LEFT BUTTON AND Hi / Lo WILL FLASH (Hi setting is if you wire in to your coil, Lo is if you wrap the sensor wire around the HT lead. I hard wired mine, so I set it to Hi)

PRESS THE LEFT BUTTON TO MOVE TO THE NEXT SCREEN FO FUEL GUAGE.

THE 1996 CBR 900RR HAS NO FUEL GUAGE SO LEAVE IT SET AT 100 AND PRESS THE LEFT BUTTON

FINISH.

Hope this takes a bit of confusion out of their instructions because they are not that easy to understand.

The clocks cost £98.00 and are an excsllent bit of kit. They are supplied with the loom, sensor and 6 magnets that sit in your disc rotor Allen bolt holes.

The instructions came free with the clocks and are crap.

Hope this helps anyone with the same setup problems I had.

I lived in Munich for 4 years mate, what an awsome city. You have to go to a night club called night flight mate, its at Frans Joseph Strauss airport and its the bollocks. It has the largest static lazer light show in the world and is in the guiness book of something or other. When the aircraft stop coming in at around 1am they open the roof and light up the sky with lazers.

Dude, Oktober fest! its fuckin HUGE, it takes 2 hours just to walk aroung the plot of ground it stands on, and the beer halls are so big they have upto 4 umpah bands in them and one doesnt drown out the other. Mate Oktoberfest is one of the wonders of the modern world, google it and you'll only get 1 1/4 the picture, fuck it has its own train station ha ha. The fuckin Bavarians are proper pissheads mate so make sure you take your drinking head with you, oh, and a body bag.

When I lived in germany I was listning to radio Bayern and they said that a train load of nuke waste went through Nurenburg and 1000 people turned out to protest, the following week the Government tried to shorten the drinking hours in baverian beer gardens and 60,000 people turned out to say NO!!! LMFARO.

For a great night out check out the Hoff brau house in Marien platz fella (google it) you'll love it mate.

Just a quick question. What chain tension are you using? VFR tension is 15-25mm and the CBR tension is 25-35mm.
Just have to rivet the chain and I'm in business again. Will try to post some pictures later. For now just a picture of my 8mm spacer.

Hope this helps anyone with the same setup problems I ha

can you tel me it is the 10k or 20k :D

yup i could...
thats pretty serious mod to the chassis mate so u gotta either leave it to pros or gather urself shitloads of equipment and skills like a frame jig tig welder and blahblahblah , then to be able to fab new engine mounts, if im remembering that right there was another pom on here who tried to put the cbr1100cc MOTEUR into the s'pom'done frame made for cbr1000 but fukd up and decided to build 2 bikes - 1000cc in the spomdon frame and 1100cc in its own? as for me i would probably fit s2000's 3500cc v6s into them both [:o)]

I remember reading here somewhere, that the carby 1100XX motor, was a fairly straight forward engine swap in the early Blades.
I think there was a link to a german mob that does it all the time.
Coz when i read that,i thought,if ever my engine shit itself,id do the swap, instead of re-building.
